I daren't say I actually think the Telegraph should have held their ground on this one. I think Dee's stance on this is very sad. It makes me very sad. Look at the facts of the article (i.e. the run of 54 losses and 108 sets) and technically on a PROFESSIONAL level, very few people, if any, can come close to that. Perhaps the only word that needs adding would be 'professional'.
Clearly taking this action just highlights his awful record, which is surely counterproductive to his supposed fears. I hope it isn't just sadly trying to make some more money, having made quite a lot in the past from media damages.
Anyway might need a few better arguements than :
"But Dee argues that as he did not have a world ranking in 2008, he cannot have been deemed the world's worst".

I've just checked his website and I think I see the problem. Looking at the banner image, he appears to be serving left handed and right handed. That could explain a lot!
Where are we / what happened with the Dee v Telegraph proceedings and have you been of any assistance there ?
As I observed earlier, "Clearly taking this action just highlights his awful record, which is surely counterproductive to his supposed fears. I hope it isn't just sadly trying to make some more money, having made quite a lot in the past from media damages". Seems the smoke I felt I detected was indeed possibly coming from a real fire.

Yes, afraid so. Compare the above and the Telegraph article, there is no comparison as to what is the more damaging in content. Though I guess more folk may read the Telegraph and they might have more money than Sheddie

I have deleted the post referred to by the 4 above comments as, apart from the concerns raised, it contained copyright material, and therefore contravened 1g of the Forum Code of Conduct
I've been reading this thread again from the start (very funny - I'd forgotten that this was the issue OEM quoted Bethan and Grundon on in the Times, for example!) and noticed that the Telegraph was the one paper that headlined the story "... not the worst player in the world"

I love the judgement, the Judge is dumbfounded - "everything they said is entireley factual. You did lose this many matches in a row on the professional tour. Domestic Spanish events are not 'professional' in relation to ITF/ATP ranks. So what's your point?!"
I hope every other paper that apologised and gave him compensation re-tracts their retraction. Makes him publishing the cheques on his website look all a bit foolish.
I also like how his website results section seems to avoid posting all his gubbings, just putting up his Domestic results.
The boy needed brought down a peg or two, this is a tremendous piece of justice.
