Now that we have ascertained for (almost) certain that the existing record for matches lost on the ATP/ITF circuits without a win belongs to Diego Beltranena from Guatemala and stands at 54 matches, it's about time we had a thread dedicated to our very own Robert Dee's 'attempt' to break it. He already has the record for straight sets losses, because Beltranena blotted his copybook by winning a set against a guy from Costa Rica inside his first 40 matches.
Anyway, here is Robert's history so far:

Just noticed that he has played Estruch (the player he lost to yesterday) three times - losing 2 & 0 the first time, 1 & 0 the other two times. The only other player he has played more than once is Javier Ramos-Martinez, losing 2-4 2-4 to him the first time in a rain-ravaged Future, then losing 0 & 2 to him the second time - clearly they Ramos and Estruch both learned something the first time they played him.

Now I know lots of people are like: "if he enjoys what he does then why not, etc" but seriously. This is throwing away money. It's not even logical. Perhaps all he wants is that record...
The guy is living the dream - I like that. He's obviously a very wealthy guy, it's hard enough to make a living on the futures tour without not winning any matches. I just wish I could play him to see if I could beat him (as a decent club player, ranked about 500 odd in juniors in Britain).
Yeah...just the one double bagel...which is slightly surprising !
I wonder if he could be a good coach...at some level....?
Definitely. One of the local newspapers in Bristol reported a few weeks ago that the chimps at Bristol Zoo have shown an interest in the concept of hitting a soft ball with a bat... A possible roll there as head coach for Dee?
