Easton was a tough opponent but this loss is still disappointing. Cox was able to get a lead on many of Easton's service games, but always let him back in. At 3-2 up in the second, Dan had 2 break points, but Easton managed to hold and in the following game Dan was broken. Obviously I didn't watch the match, but it seems like the frustration of not getting the break and squandering the break points affected him for his own service game, and you just can't allow that to happen at this level.
Hopefully he'll learn from this and come back stronger. He is one of only 20 guys born in 1990 or later in the ATP Top 1000, so he's accomplished alot, hopefully he has the hunger and mentality to achieve more.
Doubles R1 Peerakit Siributwong (Tha) / Kittipong Wachiramonowong (Tha) (5) v Niall Angus (Gbr) / Neil Pauffley (Gbr) Daniel Cox (Gbr) / Daniel Evans (Gbr) (4) v Xander Spong (Ned) / Timothy Van Terheijden (Ned)
Rather more cheerful news on the doubles front: two matches, two wins - Angus & Pauffley by 2 & 4 (splendid victory for them over the fifth seeds - bet the umpires are glad to see the back of the Thais! ) & the Dans with what looks like a bit more of a struggle, 4-6 6-4 [10-8].
Maybe it's because the LTA provide those kind of facilities for the players then they expect a bare minimum of commitment and professionalism from the little darlings that they're throwing money at! Seems fair enough to me. If the guy's got any backbone he'll come back stronger for it. If he doesn't, then he never would have made it anyway.
