Doha:- A Murray v N Davydenko

Davy serving at *3-4

15-0, another long rally, Davy went for the dtl shot and clipped the net, causing it to trickle in. Andy didn't stand a chance :(

15-15, Davy is in control of these rallies but some of the shots Andy gets to are just incredible, most of those shots he shouldn't have been able to get back!! Davy went wide in the end.

30-15, that time he couldn't get it back.

2nd serve, 40-15, again stepping into the second serve but the return was short and Davy punished it, cross court fh and all Andy can do is send it inot the net.

2nd serve, game. Andy steps up to the short ball but gives it just that bit too much in an atempt to get it past Davy.

4-4

Andy serving at *4-4

2nd serve, 0-15, return cross court winer

2nd serve, 15-15, Davy reaches the bh dtl but sends it into the net

2nd serve (Andy questions,), Andy shouldn't have reached the return, sends it tamely back leaving hte whole court open...Davy sends it long anyway (plus ANdy's practically there - he's quick!!).

2nd serve, DF no1 30-30

2n serve, 40-30, Davy nets it, and grimaces. Andy gives a come on type yell (it was indistinguishable as a real word)

game. return is out.

5-4* now would be a good time to break please Andy.

Andy's really pumped up for this match, bouncing after games that kind of thing - that's positive in my opinion.

Davy serving to stay in the set at *4-5

15-0, a horribly short ball from Andy brings Davy into the net and he then sends the volley winner in the corner behind the Scot.

2nd serve, 15-15. DF

30-15, fh dtl winner from Davy.

2nd serve, 30-30, slice bh from Davy drops wide

30-40, Davy nets a fh.

2nd serve, deuce. Andy nets a fh in the rally. He looked really up for that point though, bouncing around on the service line. Made me wonder if he'd been injected with some of Nadal?

Ad Andy, Davy goes long.

Game and First Set!!! Davy goes long again. Whoop Whoop w00t.gif

Andy serving at 64 00

15-0, wide first serve, sent the next ball straight to Davy's rackey but so hard all he could do was net it

30-0 Davy goes long on a forehand, going for too much

2nd serve, 40-0, Davy shouldn't have got to the fh in the corner, he did but Andy smashed the winner to the opposing corner instead

game. first ace of the match.

64 1-0*

I just got back to my computer, went to look for the score, saw Andy had won the 1st set and thought he must be serving well. Then I see that he was only getting 40% 1st serves in to Kolya's 72% in the 1st set and the graphic on the live stream at the end of the 1st set showed him winning less than half the points even when he did get his 1st serve, though the stats on live score imply that figure was rubbish.

If the UE numbers on the live stream graphic are correct, the Undertaker has been throwing this match away. Is that right, or has Andy been playing really well?

Davy serving at 46 01

15-0, Andy deserved that point. Davy kept hitting it really hard and Andy reached it, got it back again and again, but then netted. and yelled at himself.

30-0, Andy fails to reach the cross court in time.

40-0, same again, he nets. Andy is beginning to look tired. Certainly more tired than Davy - but then it's always hard to tell with Davy.

game. Andy nets a volley. he should have won that point. hope it doesn't eat him.

Andy serving at 64 11

15-0, ace

15-15, Andy goes long.

2nd serve, 30-15, Davy's winner goes wide.

2nd serve, 40-15, Davy goes out again.

40-30, excellent dropshot from Davy there.

deuce, Andy goes for the winner but a strange bounce means it hits it off the frame.

ad Andy, ace.

2nd serve, game. Davy nets.

2-1*

Steven, the answer's yes and no. Davy is losing the match through his errors rather than Andy winners. BUT, the errors are coming becuase Andy's getting everythin back and forcing him to go for glory or bust. Also, Andy's not playing badly at all, he's not getting winners becuase Davy's defence is so good, against most others he'd have won the set three times over.

Davy and Murray are playing the same game and they're the best in the sport at it - at the moment Andy is playing it a tad better but it's a close run thing.

Hope that helps, are you watching the live stream now?

Thanks for the summary, it all makes sense. I'm trying to watch the live stream now, if only work wouldn't keep getting in the way!

Davy serving at 46 12

0-15, Davy races to the net but can't get the volley over.

2nd serve, 0-30, Davy's bh drifts long.

0-40, Davy comes into the net again, and once again he can't get it over. Admittedly that one was a very difficult shot - but only because he wasn't close enough.

15-40, Davy's first ace of the match (I think)

2nd serve, Davy comes into the net again... gets to the passing shot but Andy hit it with such force he has no control and it goes very long indeed.

game Andy.
