Junior player of the year: boys

Woah, things getting a bit overheated here......can I just try and settle things a bit having been chatting with Barnesy the last couple of days. Barnesy thought that RedCabbage was having a dig at him with his 1st post in this thread and reacted accordingly and its gone on from there....

I can understand where Madeline and Drew are coming from with their posts but.....you guys probably think he's posting this in an aggressive way but he's just bantering around and having a laugh.......jus give him back as good as he gives, that's what he wants !!

and anyway...Goldenslam has promised me to mete out the necessary punishment come the new year biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Sorry David but this is not what I signed up for.

I might be getting to old or something but his comments to Madeline are out of order.

This is not facebook or bebo....winding folk up for fun here when its not been the case for two years...well its probably why we have som many good contributing members.

Drew

I do agree that Barnesy needs to tone it down and stop stirring things up with other ppl cause its just going to antagonise and get unpleasant..........I'm just trying to reach a peaceful settlement here cause your pm is likely just to get a cheeky response

Barnesy thinks ppl here are being oversensitive...I think this is mainly due to Bethan's deletion of the "Love all" thread....

Ok Barnesy,
How much did 'evo' give you to kiss his arse? Dont know him, yeh he has done well but im sure with the juniors we have, next year he will be overshadowed.

My vote goes to Willis, why meatball may I ask? Was very impressed with his wimbledon performance against the australian, good fighter, was also impressed with the coupland and smethurst doubles perfomance. Federer wasnt bad either!

And she was right too....from memory most others agreed.

Maybe some are oversensitive....clearly though if barnsey was not a top junior player but just a non-player like myself...would he still be around ?

Its great we have people like barnsey and other juniors and seniors reading and contributing...great but i certainly dont want this place to transcend into a slagging arena like bebo.

I hope he will settle down and see that 99% of active members are here to support and offer opinion...not always what the players may want to hear...but thats the life they lead.

Well that told you Barnesy!! I agree with redcabbage!
Although my vote goes to Marcus "Meatball" Willis purely for the fact that there was much expected from Evo & he didn't quite deliver what he could have done, where as with Willis he has gone over & above what was expected of him, thats not to say that I think Evo underachieved or that Willis is a better player, I just think that Willis had a stand out year & thats why he gets my vote.
Although Im sure when we are doing these votes next year it will be even harder to predict a winner as I think we are going to have AT LEAST one grand slam winner in 2008.

Anyway, back to tennis and the poll......interesting post from Goldenslam which was in danger of getting lost in the depths of pg 1 !

I agree about the possible slam winners in 2008, going to be an exciting year... .first time for a while, maybe not since 2004 that we've had 5 direct entrants in a junior slam main draw and any of those guys could deep....Willis & Pauffley must be one of the dark horse pairs for the doubles titles too.

Btw, what's happening with Milton, has he quit the junior tour now ?

Goldenslam has a good point about Willis, he did come storming through from nowhere to reach the verge of the top 50 with that amazing run on clay in the summer....but Evo also came from outside the top 100 to join the elite of the junior game smile.gif Did you guys predict he'd get that high at the start of the year ?

Player of the year is Evo. Done much better than all of us, not to say we can't catch him, agree with Barnes that I would rather be in quarters of a slam singles than win a doubles, but still i would be happy with either, and not writing off dycey was a fantastic result.

Meatball thats honest of you but I would not expect anything less! Look... on paper you have won 3 titles at grade 3 or highier compared to Evans 1 title at grade 1. You were the stand out Brit at Wimby & had the pleasure of my tutorage to take a G1 dubs title with Pauffers in Austria!!!
That to me is success & you deserve it................Britains Top Junior 2007 Marcus Willis.......take a bow.
oh last 16 at Wimby...thats in the past...been there ...done that!!!

Barnesy tone it down, be respectful & treat others as you want to be treated!!!

Guys I am proud of what all my players have achieved this year Coupy, Barnesy, Faris Akkha, Richo, The T twins & Meatbal & Pauffers, I know 2008 can be even better for you guys & with the right focus we can win a slam, lets go for it!!!!
