As many must have realised, Dan Evans isn't too far behind cracking the ITF top 10. Even though it'll not be easy, if he gets to the top 10 by the end of 2007, it'll be great achievement as he'll -
1) Become only the third Brit to get there since the combined ranking system was launched. 2) Get gifts from Lufthansa and Sega.
3) And most importantly, get a direct entry into three Futures.
Not bad, eh? If he doesn't, no worries as chances are that he'll get to the top 10 at the start of 2008.
This week he's 20, but Tomic has failed to defend his total and Rhyne Williams drops points, too. So Dan will be ranked 18 on Monday unless I have missed something.
Yes, it should be at least eight events. With this system, it's possible to go up by a few hundred places in a month by playing in weak events, which is unfair to quite a few players.
Gah, Albot overtakes and Evo goes up by only one place now. No one ahead of him defends anything for the next couple of weeks, but Jerzy Janowicz drops points after that.
He will do if he ends the year in the Year-ending top 10. Let's hope that doesn't happen as it involves running around playing pointless matches in Brazil and Italy.
Year-ending and end of the year aren't the same thing. You need to play six GAs and six G1s (or something like that) to be a part of the Year-ending list.
