ATP - St Petersburg Final : Murray v Verdasco

Well done Andy!! Deserves it after his wins in the last two rounds. There was a few British fans in the crowd waving some Scottish flags as well, always nice to see.

Given Andy doesn't drink alcohol I'll assume you meant drink St Petersburg dry of Tea, which I believe I covered in the 'teatime' part of my statement wink.gif

Watching the trophy ceremony....FV has been giving some sort of speach man hes going on and on and on...he lost !!!!!

The way he is pointing he is thanking everyone in the crowd...gordon bennet its like the bloody oscars !!!!

Andy seems bewildered...and he eventually stops talking...Im glad there is no sound !!!

So Andy gets a hugh trophy, a fancy beer mug, a bunch of flowers...make that 2 bunches...now he is at the mike. Im timing you Andy...no more than 2 minutes now !

great week for Murray, did well to come through some tough matches in quarters and semis.....imo San Jose 2006 is the best title of his career to date cause he beat Roddick and Hewitt to win it but great to see him continuing to rack up the titles....makes up for that Robredo match in Metz.

Wonder whether he can get past Greg (in career titles) who won 15 or 16 I think. 3 already so he should do smile.gif

I think he played his best tennis of the week against Youzhny, solid performance today but didn't need to be more than that, Andy realised he just had to be consistent and let Verdasco spray forehands all over the arena...he hit a few screamers but mostly it was just v poor....at times in the 2nd he seemed to be just smashing the ball as hard as he could to relieve the frustration of making so many errors....crashed a couple of balls into the boards and into the roof after missing shots.

Cool. Big trophy. A bit of an oversize. Good that Andy has a R1 bye at Paris-some recovery time needed.

To be 11th in the race having missed one third of the season (and two GS) is great going.
