Singles QF

bt K Lykina (3) 6-2 6-2

That's quite some beating to hand out to a top ranked player (JR=10).

SF opponent to be determined.

Like, wow Jade. Back to her very best here.

This is just surreal! clap.gif Also, Jade and partner are through to the doubles final with a walkover!!

She plays Sung-Hee Han of Korea, whom Jade can beat comfortably unless she is tired. Han's ranked 47, but her points come from weak Asian tourneys and she has never beaten anyone of international class except for Mallory Cecil, although she took Hofmanova to three at the Australian Open.

SF Singles Jade won 6-4 6-4... but lost the doubles final 6-3 6-3

Methinks she would happily have taken that.

A remarkable couple of weeks. Hoping for the final and a G1 title!

She now faces unseeded Canadian Rebecca Marino.

16 year old Marino is ranked just 233 in the juniors (she's only in this tournament via a wildcard) but has a womens ranking just outside the top 1000. Last month she made a 10K semi in Calgary. Earlier this week she took out the Serbian 4th seed in 3 sets and reached the final with a straight sets win over American Gail Brodsky. It's been a week of upsets with none of the top 8 seeds making the semis.

Great week for Jade, who has matched the success of Hannah Collin, who reached the final here back in 1999, beating 3 top tenners (Iroda Tulyaganova, Daja Bedanova and world junior no.1 Virginie Razzano) who all progressed to the top 30 of the WTA Tour rankings. Sadly the pinnacle of Hannah's achievments were in the juniors - hope it is not the same for Jade.

Alas, Marino beat Jade 6-2 6-3. Quite a week for Jade, and also for her WC opponent!

Onto the US Open. Hope Jade gets a day off-she must be sooooo tired.

Well done to Jade! This will push her into contention for a few more Junior Grand slams as well, which is nice!

Was a really fantastic run from Jade, beating so many high quality opponents and in such style too..first signs that she's starting to fulfill her undoubted talent at this level as she's surely good enough to be a top 10 junior. The last 6 months have really been a big breakthrough for her, first 10K semi (Edinburgh) and final aswell and she gave Meng Yuan (who's top 150 wta) a really close match on the grass at Birmingham

However, one thing has puzzled me ever since I started reading this thread....why is Jade supposed to have been soooooooooo tired since about rd2 onwards ??? confused.gif Do you guys know something I don't, lol

She won the grade 3 the week before singles and doubles and with reaching the final of singles and dubs here i think people might have thought she was tired. Plus she had to qualify here.

The two times i;ve seen Jade play when she was 15 and when she was 16 you always knew she was a great player. 1st time i saw her i thought she needed to beef up her game but she was super fit and moved around so well. 2nd time i saw her she hit with more power and was more aggressive but she missed a lot, maybe now the change in her game is coming to the for and shes finally fulfilling her potential.
