Sorry but that was absolutely piss poor. Don't care how far from fitness he is, he could at least look like he's trying. Really didn't look bothered in the slightest from start to finish. Bitterly disappointed with that

Just a shame - he really was starting to look like he was finding a game, at least on return.
0-30 - come on Andy. 15-30. 30 all. :( Not done much wrong in the two points he's lost. Good play from Fognini. 40-30 - matchpoint. Andy sends the ball wide.
GSM Fognini - good point to win with a great passing shot. Well deserved win, Andy really didn't play well enough to win. Playing fed whilst playing like that would have been ugly.
Good to see him back, and two matches under his belt without further injury which is all I really wanted - hopefully we'll see him look a bit better next week and being able to hit his forehand a bit better.

Sorry, I don't agree with that at all. He did look bothered - he might not have been yelling at Brad or at himself but if he wasn't interested he wouldn't have went as deep in the Fognini service games.
The guy has been playing practice sets - not even practice matches so he's not going to be match sharp. He doesn't have a big serve like Ancic to get himself cheap points so when he's playing without a decent forehand he's always going to look a bit off because he's lost one of his favourite passing shots and the guy knew that Andy couldn't hur him off that wing. You have to give credit to Fognini as well - Andy was trying to come to net to finish points off but Fognini was able to keep passing him.
Andy shouldn't have used the two drops at 15-30 down in two games, and he could have played much better but to say he didn't try is wrong IMO.

John, these comments are completely disgraceful and should be removed. I think it is clearly obvious to us all you have no knowledge what so ever, Andy was trying from start to finish however unfortunately fognini is is the form of his life and andy was only playing his second match in 3-4 months after a serious injury so he is no where near 100 %
Its funny John how you could post this slaging off our only world class player so easily after he lost one match and yet you would never say a bad word against the likes of jamie baker etc.. who with all respect to them are no where near in the class of andys.
I think we should take the postives about this week which are he has made his comeback without getting injured and he played a fine match against ginepri.
IMHO I think John has overstated it - but to be honest I wasnt convinced Andy was especially keen to win this game - by losing he avoids spoiling his head to head record with Roger.
He played too many shots from where he was standing rather than giving himself room to play the shot properly - that certainly made me wonder if he was taking it easy.
I think we all need to be patient - it might take a while for Andy to be back to the level he was at before the injury.
I just recently read Winning Ugly. Brad says he told Andre it would take 5 months playing to get back to his best after his (longer) layoff. Maybe we should allow Andy 1 or 2 months to get back to his normal level.
I also disagree with john. the fact he just come back from an injury should be taken into account. just because he beaten ginepri doesnt mean hes on a roll. i think its going to take time for andy to feel confident in going for his shots, whether it will happen at the USO i dont know, but the main priority is that murray is fit and healthy. Foginin played better than i expected, so credit to him in keeping focus throughout the entire match.

LOL bless, someone made a comment you don't agree with so it should be removed. I love it how I disagreed with one or two of your comments so you jump on everything I say trying to take the moral high ground.
I love the way you say how it is "clearly obvious to us all". Try speaking for yourself first mate, then maybe you can speak for everyone else.
You may disagree with my comment and that's fair enough, but to brand them "disgraceful" and claim they should be removed is simply opportunism on your part to try and get one back over on me after I disagreed with your constant criticism of Jamie B.

He may have been taking it easy, but that's not really the same as not trying. I think he was tentative in the match and his forehand was poor which meant that he couldn't really construct the points the way he normally would which meant he was a little careless. It wasn't a good performance, but for a second match back after three months with an injury he is still overly cautious about I find it hard to be overly upset. He wasn't killing himself to win the match it's true, but he was trying. He didn't go out there to tank it. He didn't play well enough and Fognini took advantage - it happens, especially if you don't serve well enough.
As the match progressed he came onto a game, and I believe if he had been able to hold it to a single break in the second then it would have been a Mathieu style match as you could see him playing himself into form as the match progressed, but he couldn't do that and as a result he couldn't win. No disgrace, no drama - it's disappointing, but the main thing is that he got matches in and did it without further injury to the wrist, which is all I think most of us wanted this week regardless of the results.
Agree with Aria81....poor loss but lets look at it calmly....he said afterwards he was pain free 70-80% during the match which means he was hurting at points. So he backed off slightly and did not risk missing another GS by going all guns blazing. Be patient john my friend I know you are passionate about GB tennis and not surprised how you reacted you desperately along with all of us wanting GB tennis success. Let him get fit, 100% and then we can judge him better.
