I'm disappointed that so few Brits are playing this.

Haha, I didn't realise that we had that many! Anyways, normally we have more Brits playing here - last year we had fifteen.

But what really bothers me is that most of our top prospects are in Switzerland. Loads of them would have had a good chance of taking the title out here.

Arka.... What makes you think that the guys in Switzerland cant take the title?? confused Clay?? confused
Hope Alex Bull has a good week here, would love to see him win a singles title, I think he won the dubs here last year with Willis? Courts should suit his game, although odd choice of tourny after playing on clay in Germany last week & he is playing in Portugal next week on clay again. Obviously feels he can win here!!

Yes, the clay. Although Barnes and a few others can play on clay, most of them are at their best on hard courts.

Aso, why aren't Smethurst or Matt James playing this? confused.gif They would find it tough to lose a match in this field.

Good luck to the boys playing here in any case. Hopefully the Bull or Turberville will take the title.

Smethy & James have had a heavy competitive phase & have taken a couple of days off. Smethy starts training again tomorrow on clay in preparation for next week in Portugal on clay, he plays 2 events there followed by GB nationals.
Barnes, Coupland, Knights, Smethurst, Bull, Carpenter, Marselak & Jones all play in Portugal & I think a couple more Brits are on the list.
This week if the courts play fast enough & he sticks to his strengths Bull, should win the title but he needs to stay mentally tough & not get angry!! No one likes a raging bull!!!biggrin

Bully is through to the semi finals here, not sure who he plays but on this surface he obviously has a chance of beating anybody in the draw. Go Bully!!!

The Bull Vs The Nott & that is Nott Bull biggrin!!! Alex won 6-4 in the 3rd against his Italian opponent & Chris beat Harrison fairly comfortably to reach the final, it will be Bully's first singles final so nerves could come in to play. I would love for Alex to win this but I think Nott might just pinch it.

That's good news. May the best Brit win.

Notty bt Bully 6-4 7-5, one break in each set was enough for Notty to take the title. Britain has another ITF champion & both boys will benefit from a rankings rise.
