RE: PICK 'EM at Roland Garros

Canas' win increases the BT lead again and allows Sheddie to re-take the lead. Also Mkkreuk has been creeping up the table and is now positioned in 2nd place breathing down Sheddie's neck:

BritishTennis.net lead AndyMurray.com by an average of 131.42-125.71 points per team member after 115 matches.

table in the next post

no prizes for guessing why I stopped at 23rd biggrin.gif

Interestingly we're all still predicting at above 50% which is pretty impressive and not normally the case, so we're getting better, slowly!

I think it's impossible for me to win now though, right?

I need Nalbandian to keep winning, as he is pretty much by only chance of winning this, especially as Ferrer decided to be a clown and lose to Verdasco who has barely won a match all season

At least Dave is 2-0 down though... means I'm a lot more confident than if he was 2 sets up... as he wins the third set to carry on another one of his comebacks

Monday's picks analysis - bottom half of R4

(6) Novak Djokovic : 1.61 swing to AM
Fernando Verdasco : no swing

12 BTs & 20 AMs went for Nole, while even imoen forsook 'dasco in this round. The other 7 BTs & 4 AMs went for Ferrer.

(16) Marcos Baghdatis : 0.49 swing to AM
Igor Andreev : 0.60 swing to BT

2 BTs (sheddie & Rochelle) and 4 AMs (cdagger, Wendy, Xenon & Jambon) went for Baggy. 3 BTs (Josh, goldfish & Guy) and 2 AMs (kayce & ASE) went for Andreev. Either way, then, this result is likely to cause a lot of changes near the top of the individual table.

Among those who can't possibly score for this match, 2 BTs (FD & John) and 1 AM (Kels) went for Seba & the Fat Jeans, while 4 BTs, including me, and 7 AMs also made the mistake of trusting a Frenchman, picking PHM to win. Amazingly, 4 BTs and 8 AMs thought Duckboy would survive this far (!) while 2 BTs (Bruce & Wallace) and 1 AM (Shaun) seriously thought Hrbaty would! The remaining 2 BTs (David Carter & Imoen) thought Horna would reach the QFs, while AM's AllyB thought it would be Massu.

Jonas Bjorkman : no swing
(23) Carlos Moya : 1.96 swing to AM

8 BTs and 16 AMs went for Moya to reach the QFs from this section, while everyone thought the 'old boy' and renowned clay-hater Bjorkman wouldn't even have reached R4 in the first place!

2 BTs (mkkreuk & Guy) and 1 AM (Daisy) went for Kohli, 1 BT (Count Zero) and 2 AMs (Blodwyn & Shaun) went for Blake, while 8 BTs and 5 AMs, too many to name (and shame), went for Berdych.

(14) Lleyton Hewitt : 0.67 swing to AM
(2) Rafael Nadal : 0.25 swing to BT

Fitz & Daisy (AM) were the only 2 entrants to go for Hewitt to reach the QFs, while 18 BTs and 22 AMs went for Rafa. John (BT) went for Tigger, as if I needed to remind you!

I 'share your pain', FD LOL - I didn't pick Nalby, but desperately needed him to beat Kolya to prevent an 8 place drop because so many people near the top went for the Undertaker. No chance cry ... so this is dedicated to him ...

There was an old numpty called Dave
Who once dissed Tim Henman, the knave!
He huffed and he puffed
And got totally stuffed
Before crawling back in his cave

only if you manage to come up with 10 different reasons why we should.

(truthfully the answer's no, sorry but if you're absolutely desperate you could predict the matches and then mark your own biggrin.gif, and please don't let that dissuade you from coming up with 10 reasons in an attempt to convince us otherwise wink.gif)

Picks analysis for Tuesday's QFs

The first match is a bit boring!

(1) Roger Federer : no swing
(9) Tommy Robredo : no swing

Every single one of us picked Fed to win.

(4) Nikolay Davydenko : 0.71 swing to BT
(19) Guillermo Canas : 1.15 swing to AM

The Undertaker was picked by 4 BTs (sheddie, who will stay top if Kolya wins), Josh, goldfish & Count Zero) and 4 Ams (Wendy, Allan, carrie & Xenon), while just four people went for Canas - 1 BT (David Carter) and 3 Ams (Claire Bear, cazza & daisy) - Claire Bear will jump into 1st place if Canas wins.

10 BTs & 8 Ams (i.e. everyone not named above or below) went for Gonzo.
1 BT (John) and 5 Ams (Ewan, Fitz, Speedy, Vamos & Kels) went for Dammit Gasquet.
1 BT (mkkreuk) and 2 Ams (nicki & Shaun) picked Chela.
1 BT (ForeverDelayed) & 1 AM (kayce) plumped for Numpty Nalby.
1 BT (imoen) and 1 AM (RoastLamb) went for Monaco.

1) so i can beat shedie and make him sleep in his shed (again)

2) so i can predict boggo to win his 1st atp title

3) Practice on grass picks for Wimby

4) This should should have the highest No. Brit entrants in a pick em so far which could lead to too much tinted glass picks (boggo excpeted)

5) I like Queens (cept the director)

6) No Federer here so this will be the hardest event so far to pick a winner - could lead to some last minuite position jumps. So far i think the only winner picks have been fed/rafa/andy bar a few

7) We should beat those AM'ers

8) Did i mention beating sheddie?

9) No. 9 was a brillaint reason but activeboard deleated it

10) Did i say pretty please with a cherry on top?

and (11) should be....

I'm so p*ssed off at getting completely owned by Sheddie over the past fortnight that I can't wait another 2 weeks to get back at him...I need revenge now !

Although Imoen and Steven won't be able to do it cry.gif maybe "Guy the gorilla" (sorry that's just stuck from Hamburg) will step into the breach again ?
