Andy's latest injury

blake tells andy not to play unless he is 100% funny cause dont forget blake is currently seeded 9, andy 8. ho hum.
be nice for blake should andy drop out, and no one else above looks likley.

He really is leaving it late though, checked the OOP and hes not on it. Though Baker's playing Djokovic in an exhbo match. Personally, i dont think Andy should play Wimbledon especially with no match practice, even though hes going to play in an exhbo its not the same.cry.gif Best to prepare for the N.American hardcourt swing.smile.gif

Sadly, agreed !

Playing Djokovic will be a good experience for Baker.

Also, Marcus Willis has been hitting with Fernando Verdasco out here. omg.gif

OOP for Friday does not appear to show Andy, so it looks unlikely to play Wimbledon now.cry.gif

yesterday a lot of rain delayed play. The only match that got underway was djoko-baker. Nole led 6-3 5-5. Apparently he was ahed by a set a break and then slackened off.

The BBC have said that the news from wimbledon is that Andy has had a good practice and unless he gets an adverse reaction he will play Monday. (BBC1 coverage of Eastbourne)

To be precise, he was quoted as saying that, if there were no adverse reaction to today's practice session & another one tomorrow, he would play on Monday.  Nevertheless, grounds for cautious optimism... pray.gif

N.B.  He's apparently also entitled to apply for special dispensation to put back his opening match by one day.  Given that he's the only Brit with a realistic chance of making it into the second week & an obvious crowd-puller, were he to do that, I'm sure the PTB would look kindly on any such application... wink

Hopefully andy gets scheduled for the tuesday as there are likely to be delays and he may get a few extra hours/days rest taking his match to wednesday.

Andy as quoted on the BBC...and my thoughts...

Murray said: "I hope I'll be competing. I've been playing some sets over the last few days and had no bad reaction.

Okay that sounds good

"Every day it gets better and if I have no bad reaction Sunday or Monday after practice then I hope to play."

mmm..only hoping to play !

"After speaking to the doctors I'm confident in what they say and the way they've treated the injury," he said.

Well you have to trust the docs !

"The only problem is whether I can do it or not. I've been doing weights on my wrist to help.

weights on his wrist....thats good

"Contact with the ball makes it hurt a little bit but hopefully it will get better over the next couple of days. The physios are confident I can't re-injure it."

oh s**t .....it STILL hurts when he hits the ball !....not good...but then they say he cant re-injure it....mmm !

"It's not that hard a decision to make. If I'm not fit and not 100%, then I won't play. I won't stress about it. "If my wrist is not right, it's not right."

Well I'm back to square one....none the wiser !!!!

According to my other half, Channel 5 news have just said he will definitely be playing!

I think I will just wait and see what happens ashamed

the article on his website has now changed to he's planning to play unless there are any last minute problems. So it's sounding more like he'll play but he still has enough wiggle room to back out at the last minute!

I see nobody has been confident enough to start a Murray v Lapentti thread!

Edit - it has been done now he is on the OOP for Monday. . .
