The Queen's Club Junior Championships 2007.

The most mysterious tournament of the year. No one gets to know who played the event, what the draw was like and at times even who won it - and yet, this is apparently a very prestigious tournament.

Iain Atkinson won it last year, after beating two top 10 players (apparently, as no one knows who those top 10 players were).

But this year the website may give a tiny bit of coverage to it. There is already a small article on it - http://www.artoischampionships.com/1/news/2007/finals_schedule.asp

So we know that 16 players compete in it and Brydan Klein will be one of them.

I wonder which British players will be there. As it has always been said, the grass season is too congested. Played in and around the same time will be - Roland Garros, Surbiton, ATP Queen's Club, ATP Nottingham qualies, ITF in Halle and the wild card play offs. hmm.gif

Cox could be there as he used train at Queen's before he moved to Roehampton.

Hopefully Atkinson will defend his title!

Not allowed to play this year as he was born in 1988.

I suppose that is the drawback with junior tournaments...

I wonder why it doesn't get much coverage? Is it worth any junior ranking points?

It doesn't get coverage because this is Britain. smile.gif

No, it's an exho. I wish that they would convert it to an ITF, though.

I mailed them with a request for sending me the list of players. No reply so far.

who's won in the past? Is it normally a Brit who wins? (I know Atkinson and Kasiri have been the last two winners, just wondering if this was a coincidence, new trend or tradition smile.gif)

I think that Andy won it, too.

Klein will be the favourite this year, no matter who the other players are (unless someone like Donald Young is invited!). The Australians play quite a bit on grass.

Brits have won it for the past 4 years....Andy Murray never won it though.

Boggo won in 2003, Miles Kasiri won in 2004, Andy Kennaugh won in 2005 and Iain Atkinson won last year...

If Cox, Evans and Willis play they'd surely have a good shot at it this year...it finishes on the Friday so won't affect Nottingham qualies....hopefully they might be still in the wc playoff though

but never won it....to be fair to him he was only 15 and 16 then....if he'd played in 2005 he would have walked it

He would have walked it in 2004, too.

that's if he hadn't been injured for the first 6 months....not sure he'd have beaten Kasiri given how little tennis he'd had

Well, he had reached the finals of Roehampton, which is played a few days after this and has a field which is five times stronger!
