Oh dear, not the easiest first match, even, and Andy needs to get at least to the second round if he is not to lose points. Volandri, the Fed-and Berdy-Killer. Bang in form.
Still, Filippo got beaten 6-1 6-2 today by Gonzo, so hopefully he is now very tired and his purple patch is over!
Not a particularly nice draw for Murray, as it isn't going to allow him much match practise on the clay this year, as Volandri in his current form, and Murray based off his performance in rome means that Volandri should take this in 2 sets
If he does sneak through, then Acasuso will probably take him out in the next round, so it isn't going to give Murray a chance to get many matches in before Roland Garros
Murray "loves" the clay. He was injured for Monte Carlo, missed Estoril because of it. He ran into a worthy in-form opponent in Rome ( Simon bt Canas as well, remember) and he will be even more determined than ever to score some good points here.
Volandri cleary upped his game in Rome. The crowd really helped him and he won't have that "extra help" in Hamburg. He is likely to be on the come down.
Acasuso's form has dipped in the last few tournaments but the slower surface will probably suit him. However I don't think he's the nippiest of players and Andy's drop shots and "mixing it up" will hopefully befuddle him.
