Agreed Steven. Hewitt had a horrible draw, and I thought that the difficult choice was which of the clay courters in that corner would prevail. So he has done really well. It looks like our predictions were all much of a muchness, and the end result will hinge on subtleties like Gonzo/Gasquet, and who we picked to be runner up to Rafa - assuming that he wins.
As I predicted to her - I worry about where I'm going to pick up that point that Claire is ahead of me by. Beating her is more important than doing well - 12th will do me as long as she is 13th ...

haha this is funny coz im doing RUBBISH hehe... o well.. i had other thngd on my mind when i was predicting.. i will hopefully be back strong at RG.. but its not over untill its over
Thanks, Guy. Much to my astonishment, I have overtaken the daughter. But things still do not look all that encouraging - of the 5 I have in the 3rd round, 3 of them I predicted to lose here, so they are dead from a points perspective. And one of the 2 I did predict to go forward (Fed) looks like he will struggle to beat an egg.
Amazingly I'm still top so happy about that. I actually did two versions this time around, the first on instinct and the second after I'd looked at head to heads, 2007 win to lose ratio and success on clay. My second attempt is doing much better than my first which just goes to show that my instinct is rubbish but I can, at least, consider myself a decent enough analyst.
So far.....
See what tomorrow brings although I'm hopeful, having 10 still in round 3 with 6 predicted to proceed to the quarters...
Well, Davydenko has struggled through against Simon, which will please most of us. Dammit Gasquet has wound the rollercoaster up by dropping the first serve of his match against Metzer, which will go down less well. Nieminen beat Mayer in a match that most of us expected Youzhny to win. And Nole has just scraped through the first set tb against Benneteau.
On the face of it ASE except that my 'dodgy' picks and even my 'not so dodgy' are now looking exceedingly dodgy. Can't see myself finishing the day on top now...
Well, I ended up with 9 into the third round, but only 4 of those are predicted for the QFs (and semis, in each case). So unless those 4 (Fed, Nole, Donkey, Rafa) do the business, I'm outahere. Dammit losing will probably hurt me hard (I had him beating Gonzo), but I see that 3 people managed to predict Melzer, so well done to them.
One things that seems to be true of this pick'em, however, is that everyone else is doing iffily, too. So even though I'm far from happy to date, I'm still there or thereabouts, which is a surprise indeed. I suspect that I may be behind the ****** robot.
And a good day thus far from Blodwyn (Lucy) means that I am only just ahead of both daughters, and could easily be beaten by the pair of them. Oh the shame of it.
There has been a turnaround in the team competition that isn't. AM.com dominated the early rounds, but BT have stormed up the table today. Grr.
