Haha! There was actually an error with the drawsheet! Knights and Smethurst had won their semifinal and not the other way round.

And they won in the final, too.

Smethurst goes up by a cool 288 places to 501.

I think that he is capable of getting to the top 100 at the start of 2008 if he pushes himself enough. Whether he'll play enough tournaments or not is the question...

He isn't entered for a single tournament in the next one month.

Maybe he will play the two G5s in Turkey which the LTA loves sending players to?

seems to me he should try and qualify for more G1's, 2's and 3's. He can clearly perform at a higher level as he showed against Oudesma

True, but the problem is that all the bigger tournaments in Europe and North Africa till before Halle are on clay.

He'll have to travel to North America to play anything major off the dirt (hard court tourneys in Central America and then a G3 on grass in the US), which is extremely unlikely.

Britain is in serious need of a few good Junior tournaments. We have Wimbly and Roehampton, which is mostly for top 50 players. There is nothing that can aid players between the 50 - 250 ranking group.
