the commentators said he fell over on the practice court yesterday - maybe he did something

but no injury timeout, i didn't spot anything obvious in his movement. he was just - bad.

I think I will crawl into a hole and hide. Poor Andy - as the advert says, "that's gotta hurt".

I really thought he had got over those type of matches.

Ah well.  Let us hope he can do a lot better than last year on the clay.  And play a lot better than that in the DC tie.

Brave of him.

I don't see how you can, to be honest.

You just have to hold your hand up and acknowledge that it was a seriously deficient performance on every level.

I suppose the most worrying thing is the way we have started to hang all of British tennis
on Murray's back.
The man can play, but frankly with the ageing (in tennis terms) Henman & Rusedski as his
compadres I can't say I feel confident.

Petchey didn't defend Murray's performance he was just saying that people shouldn't read too much from it. He pointed out that Andy is still only 19, that he is still learning and that he will probably come back stronger as a result.

I suppose we should put it all in context, after all Fed has lost a couple of matches recently

i just got annoyed with petch, having listened to him slag boggo off in matches (when he wasnt even playing too bad) it just annoys me when it isnt even with his comments.

Not too surprised to see Djokovic get the win, but a bit shocked to see that Murray lost so easily. I guess he must have had a shocker, or Djokovic is just a hell of a lot better than him.

Still, another semi final isnt too bad, and gets him closer to the top 10, so I guess on the whole it has still been a good week for him

I have never seen Andy's backhand break down like that - absolutely nothing went right off that wing today. It was staggering to see such a worldclasss shot go awol like that. Nole didn't even have to play well either, that was the disappointing thing.

Andy has never been given a beating like that on the main-tour, it will be interesting to see how he re-groups from that. I thought Nole was a wee bit OTT at celebrating when Andy hit the net in either the last or next to last game, but to be honest, can't really blame him. I'm just amazed at how poor Andy was and it pretty much confirms my fear that Nole has the mental edge over him just now. I don't know how he will react to that.

I always felt the difference between the two just now is Nole's consistancy and there's less that can go wrong in his game. Certainly looks like that just now - it'll be interesting to see how long it takes Andy to get that consistancy in his own game.

You're right, I think we sometimes forget that rankings don't come out of
the blue but reflect the bigger picture of wins and losses.
