Cox lost by 62 in the third. It was an extremely difficult match because Paire got the title last week after winning five straight three setters. I'm gutted that no Brit is left in singles.
Paire beat Piro in straights. Cox didn't do badly to take a set off him.
Who on earth is this boy? Till last month he was ordinary at best - he has hardly done anything in Juniors and I was looking up results of his from domestic tennis and wasn't particularly impressed. All of a sudden he gets a wild card and wins five straight three setters and then beats 2007's best Junior player!
Sorry for grave digging, but I remember making this post about someone who seemed a bit of an enigma almost 3 years back. Good to see the boy on top of the world (or somewhere near there) today.

It has been the rise and rise of Benoit Paire since this, isn't it? Kept on improving almost all the time, it seems, and now he has managed to win his life's first ever five setter (something which even future top 10 players often struggle to do).
This seems to be an amazing tennis story and he does look like someone who got suddenly inspired, for some reason or other! Looks like a great prospect now and I want to see him play.
It's players like Paire that need to be waved under the noses of up'n'comers who are struggling to move up a level. Keep at it and something might just click.
