Andy holds to love, that was good. Andy has raised his level but has it come to late? If he could get the break back this could be a classic but Andy will need to dig very deep.
The trainer is still on court but he doesn't seem to be doing anything.
Andy missed two opportunities to smash the ball past his opponent in that game and at least one chance in the first set. I think that indicates injury problems.
At least Andy showed up for the second set and let the crowd see why he is playing in a match like this even if he couldn't bring his A game today.
Andy had a chance to get back into it with the two break points but Djokovic crushed that little bit of hope and and didn't allow his opponent any more.
He didn't look happy as he walked off court - his presser should be interesting to see what he thinks. He must be gutted but i hope he concentrates a bit more on the positives of the week and just heals up for Miami. It's been a great week and he just had a bit of lousy luck with the way his draw was.
Nadal would have killed him in the final if he had gotten through in that state. Pleased for Nole - that's him in the top ten but a wee bit upset at how easy he's had it. Andy just needs to stay out of Fed's quarter next week.
An easy win for Novak Djokovic as Murray's body failed to recover in time for their semi-final clash. Unsure of whether he should even be playing, and the potential damage he might be doing just by staying on court, this was an unrecognisable display from Andy.
While the pair exchanged early breaks, Novak soon realised that Murray was barely in a state to play. Taking total control of the match he dominated the first set, striking the ball cleanly, and with real power, into the space that the restricted Murray could not cover. Even when Andy created an opening with an aggressive groundstroke, he failed to finish the point, missing straightforward shots by large margins.
The second set continued in the same fashion with Murray 0-40 down after a couple of forehand unforced errors. A fine forehand on the turn chasing down a lob was a rare highlight from Murray but he dumped a backhand in the net to concede the early break. For a spell Andy decided that serve and volley might be a more profitable strategy and it worked well at times, showcasing his skills at the net.
Two break points on the Djokovic serve at 2-3 but Novak came up with a couple of big serves that Andy failed to return. The match finished with yet another break of the Murray serve. A horror smash from Andy landing at least 6ft out, having let the ball bounce first. It was one of those days.
Djokovic was impressive, and would have been a tough opponent even for a fit, on-form Murray. In truth Andy looked as though he didn't really want to be out there. Lacking a game plan or any sense of how he might put together a victory given his restricted movement, Murray appeared embarrassed by his display, and was caught saying as much to the trainer when he took an injury time out to ponder whether he should concede the match, to protect his body from further damage.
The final score 6-2 6-3 but it might be more accurately described as a walkover due to the hip and ankle injuries Andy sustained the previous evening.
Brave of Andy to go out and play and give it a go, and typical of him to stay out there and complete the match when he realised he really couldn't move well enough to bring his game to bear on Novak.
Today wasn't to be, but he needs to take many positives out of this week - a new career high ranking, a second TMS semi-final, back-to-back wins over top 10 players. Andy really had to scrap through his quarter and he did it. No disrespect to Nole but he kinda rode his luck with Blake and Federer both losing early - he will only face a top 10 player this week in the final and his highest-ranked opponent, Murray, was clearly struggling to move freely.
Andy, though, will have his day - the luck of the draw week-in, week-out means one day the roles will be reversed and Djokovic will have to deal with the same kind of adversity to make it as far as Andy in a draw.
What matters now is Andy resting and recovering for Miami. With another R1 loss to defend last year, he has the chance again to gain a lot of points if he can make it through a couple of rounds and with a bit of luck his own entry to the top 10 will only be delayed by a week or two.
