France F5 - Potiers 15k+H (Hard)

man this sucks....two of our best players losing to a frog and an aussie on the same day....and lower ranked ones too !

Neither of them were going to get past Tsonga in the semis though

True and Renavand in the quarters will be tough for him...Renavand is one of the biggest servers on the futures tour

Stats for the Baker match: Both players served pretty well from the looks of things, like Boggo against Lopez, what cost Baker was a failure to take his chances. He only took 3 out of 12 bps....missed 5 in the final set before getting broken while serving to stay in the match

Interesting stats on Baker just goes to show how vital it is to have a weapon.

Hmmm, I think Baker would have had a chance against Tsonga. To say otherwise amounts to little more than treason! lol

Hopefully slower courts will translate to even better results from Jamie. Wonder how much he will play on clay this year.

I'll send Jamie an email and ask him the questions you guys/girls have asked.  Hopefully he will respond soon.

Thanks craig, I look forward to reading what Jamie has to say.

It's a shame that both our boys lost today. Hopefully they learn from their mistakes and have a stunner in their next tournament.

Why do you say that simon ?   Does Jamie really not like clay then ?

I think he's at his best on slower surfaces, like Andy - medium paced outdoor hard is his best surface. On those courts, Jamie's consistency, fitness and ability to work the rallies is most effective. Technically, he hits his shots with a lot of topspin which suits slower, higher bouncing surfaces though as he showed on the grass last summer and on the indoor circuit so far this year, he can adapt his game.

Jamie has avoided clay in the past couple of years, don't think he's played a tour match on it since 2004 !  (unless some of the 2005 Turkey sat was on clay). Last May he played a series of futures in Greece before the grass season. Unless he's going to step down to futures again, he'll have to head to the States to find some hard court challengers in April-May (though I think some of those may be on clay).

He played on clay in Naples Challenger (I think) in November

Richard quickly returned home quickly to play for "team Bristol" in the NPL tennis tonight. Richard playing with Martin Lee won both there doubles match against "Gosling" a team which featured Ed corrie. James Auckland was watching the matches tonight and i believe is playing tomorrow.
