RE: Pick 'em Contest Indian Wells

I'll get back to you on that one, Rob, it's a very interesting question!

First, what should we be looking out for now? Well, Chela v Russell won't make any difference - virtually all of us had Robredo v Berdych/Baggy here and those who did have Chela instead of Robredo didn't pick him to reach the QFs out of this match.

As for Ferrero v Rafa, all of us who picked Youzhny to win this match will be hoping that Ferrero wins, because nobody picked him. If Rafa wins (and he's just won the 1st set 6-1 ), FD and Alex will leap from 6= to 1=.

The odd thing is that most of those in the top 10 seem to have picked Ljubo or Rafa to win their respective matches but not both - we clearly either believed in East Europeans (the Ljubo/Youzhny double) or in Hispanics (the Rafa/big Dave double) - MikeD was the only one of the 19 of us to go for Ljubo and Rafa.

Seagull, on the other hand, went for neither, so a Rafa win would see him drop again, to 8th.

Finally, if Gasquet beats Duckboy, John could go top - he was the only one of us to pick the Frenchman.

Bethan - shedman doh! alert! - I just noticed that he messed things up when it looked like he hadn't picked Roddick or Gasquet to reach the SFs and I looked at his sheet and found that he had picked Roddick after all.

He put a 1 in box F130 to advance Duckboy from R2 to R3, but for some reason he then typed "Andy Roddick" into cell G129 too. Because it's not "(3) Andy Roddick", it's not been picked up. To correct it, you need to copy cell G119 into cell G129 and then it will be ok from then on.

The bad news is, correcting the error moves him up to 4th place after the last round and would place him 1st on 104 after the Ljubo win.

So, the question is, do you correct it, or do you not correct it and leave all his Roddick picks invalid as an 'example' to everyone else? (where's the smiley for 'evil grin' when you need it? ) Or, we could let him have the points on condition that he finally replies to our emails about putting the table on the site before, say, mid-day on Wednesday. What do you think?

Rafa won

Rob, you won't believe this, but if Arka had picked randomly in R1, all the seeds in R2 and the higher-ranked seed from then on, he wouldn't just be a bit higher on the table, he'd be 8 points clear in 1st place!

... and that's despite all the upsets!

Sorry about that, I went and messed up big time with Roddick in my table, ended up clicking the wrong button and then having to type it in.

C'mon guys you have to give me the pts...it'd be unfair not to, I mean...I got the predictions right and that's what matters

Bethan...think very carefully about what you do...remember that your mod powers can be removed at the click of a button   (we haven't got an evil grin smiley but this will have to do )

Guys I promise I'll reply by midday tomorrow

Now listen here Shedman, I want to make VERY clear that I (like the US) do not give in to terrorists (that's what I'm classing your threat as ). So now I've got a dilema...before i would have solved the problem for you immediately but now if i do it looks like I'm giving in. Hmm what to do?

Right, I've made my decision. I will post the corrected table now. HOWEVER, if I receive no email today then I will rescind the correction. Does that sound fair?

By the way if you don't send the email the beautiful table Steven has created can't be posted as it exceeds the limit now.

This bit should be tacked onto the top of the table but I can't get it to fit in one post.

To finish     0 0 0 4

In tonight's first match, Alex, Mike, Aria & RedCabbage have gone for the Undertaker, the rest of us for Andy.

Djokovic-Benneteau is on court at the moment as well - FD, RedCabbage, andyjmr, anniez and mkkreuk have all gone for Nole, none of us have gone for Benneteau. I imagine most of the rest of us went for James Blake.

Moya-Ferrer won't have any effect because we all went for Fed there.

Finally, all of us except Alex, Drew and Johnnylad went for Tommy Haas in the remaining match.

I went for Nole too. And I'm glad I did.

And I'll be cheering for Haas in my sleep as well!

I'll post the next update in a bit, might wait for the Ferrer/Moya match to finish but may not depends on two things a) how long they take and b) how tired I get waiting.

I'm going to have to split the table again this evening but tomorrow will try and post it to the website instead of on here (can't do that now as I know I'm too tired and I'd probably end up deleting the whole of Britishtennis.net - whether that's possible or not!)

First part of table here, second in the next post. FD extends his lead to 10 points, David really benefitted from my correcting his mistake-remind me not to do that next time-and moves into second

ROUND    R1    R2    R3    R4    MAXI.
To finish     0 0 0 1
