I had a feeling that'd be fairly comfortable, but not quite that easy - after all Koubek did make finals in Chennai with some great wins. Murray just brushed him aside.
Having watched Koubek several times last year I thought that he didn't have the game to trouble Andy...makes too many errors. However, he's still really experienced and has been top 20 so to dispatch him 3 and 2 is an excellent effort

Same here, it's going to be very interesting to see how he does. Last year, he was really struggling confidence-wise and tactically on the clay. He'd just split with Petchey and he was still having problems with how to play, whether to be more aggressive or just stay how he had been and that indecision gave him a lot of problems until Brad came along.
This time round...he uses the drop shot a lot more sparingly (and so more effectively). Last year he was using it almost every couple of points on the clay and it became so predictable. His second serve has more bite and is placed better, last year Volandri and Blake in particular, were really able to take advantage of it. He's also one heck of a lot fitter which is so important for clay as it's baking hot in Europe at that time plus he's coming into the net more to finish off points.
I think that he'll start an era like Fed or Sampras did.
I'm sure that USM will say something like - he'll be a solid top ten player in the years to come.
Actually I think he'll be a solid top 5 player in the years to come.
Arka you do jump the gun way too early ! It's like your prediction that JMDP will soon usurp Nadal as the clay-court king and JMDP isn't top 50 yet !
It's far too early to predict that he'll dominate the men's game like Federer Not even Andy himself will think he has a chance of doing that, what's Federer's done is incredible. Obviously, I'd love that to happen but I don't think it will. I think that we're going to been in for a very exciting decade for mens tennis with not one player dominanting but several in the mix for the slams...the likes of Federer (for the first half of the next decade), Nadal, Andy, Djokovic, Berdych, Baghdatis Gasquet (maybe) and possibly some others like JMDP and Querrey

Yeah first 4 tournaments: Final, AO rd4, champion, semis at least. Not bad when you consider that Ljubicic and Nadal are the only guys who've beaten him !
Miryni, Ljubicic, Nadal, Lee, Karlovic and Dancevic are the only players to have won sets
It's a brilliant run but just for the record, Pless took a set off Andy last week too and he lost his 1st set of the year in Doha to Volandri.
