ATP Memphis 2007 : R1 : Murray v Dancevic

Korolev is on his way out - a set and 2 breaks down to Koubek...and he's out.

I might be up, will try and stay awake.

Very surprising loss for Korolev, I would have expected him to beat Koubek who has a decent forehand but is pretty inconsistent. Korolev struck me as a fairly solid player  who can unleash big shots off both sides when I saw him.

Roddick wins first set 6-2. 1-0 Tojo in second set, deuce on A-Rod serve.

Bizarre stat of the day: Roddick being outaced 7-3 despite winning the first set so comfortably.

I was a wee bit surprised at that. That's what happens when you give a guy a big build-up I guess. I didn't think he would have had much bother with Koubek - ah well, I guess that's the consistancy thing with young players.

Johansson is trying to make a match of it against Roddick but from a purely selfish PoV I would quite like him to get broken in the second set so that it's not ridiculously late for Andy's match.

Andy's game is on the scoreboard. Should be off shortly, anyone else up?

I guess that Koubek being the more experienced player, was a bit too wily for Korolev. Maybe Korolev's not used to playing lefties aswell ?  Yeah it does take a while for most young players to establish consistent performances, week in week out which is why guys like Murray and Nadal are so exceptional.

Johansson put up a much better fight in the second set but lost concentration at 5-5 and got broken to love

Lol, shows what Dancevic's going to have to do to trouble Andy in this one, the only pts he's been able to win have been aces

Not now though, he's just got a point on Andy's serve but Andy still leads 40-15

Really good start serving-wise from Andy ; 3 aces already. His serve has improved so much after the work he did on it in the off season, I think it's the ball toss, it's a lot more consistent.

I wonder if the Memphis courts are as fast as the San Jose ones ?
