RE: Andy's ranking and competitors: Week 8 (Memphis etc)

The Updated Table is posted here (On Britishtennis.net)

Only Djokovic played on Monday.

Today, Ferrer plays Rochus, and Berdych plays Youzhny in Rotterdam.

Tonight, Haas plays Spadea in Memphis.  No- one's position will change as a result of a win today.

Berdych loses first set to Mikhail Youzhny 6-4.

And a little behind Andy now, Niemenen loses to Vliegen 1 and 4.

My calculations say things differently:

Ferrer will need to reach the semis to overtake Andy if Andy loses in the quarters.

Ferrer will need to reach the finals to overtake Andy if Andy loses in the semis.

Ferrer will need to win the title to overtake Andy if Andy loses in the finals.

Berdych takes the second set breaker..

....a bit of deja vue here: Youzhny against a young top 20 player beginning with "B". Wins the first set, loses the second in a breaker, and then Baghdatis goes on to reach the final.

Davaii Mikhail - learn from last week - beat the Czech for Andy!!

And he's broken him again: 5-0 he's going to bagel him! Obviously did learn that lesson

5-0. Was 4-0, 40-0, then somehow contrived to give away a break point, but that was saved and Youzhny held for a commanding lead.

Not a bagel, but a breadstick is good enough. Youzhny wins decider 6-1
