Fine service game from Andy, big serving and clean winners.

I cannot imagine how hard it must be to play against Ivo. If you think the angle the ball is coming at you it must be so hard. He really has nothing else to his game though.

Andy has 15-30 here - little chance? Ivo just belts down an ace though so probably not.

Andy had a great chance to break at 30-40. Andy was a bit casual going for the winner, he still hasn't got the ball past Karlovic when he is at the net, he tried a lob but with the height required it was just long. The best chance was on the bp point but he chose that moment for a very rare error.

He really should have taken that BP. That was a really poor error. Hopefully not too costly. He's serving well at the moment though.

Pretty comfortable from Andy. He is serving well and he can aim his second serve at the Karlovic bh and he knows he will be OK.

3-4

Quick game, yet more brutal serving from Karlovic. Andy needs to play well on his next break point because he isn't going to get many.

Bit of trivia, the players who have successfully defended the SAP open to date are McEnroe, Sampras, Philipoussis and Roddick.

Karlovic took a might swing at 3 fhs in that game and they all went well long. However, he did get one point by, you guessed it, charging the net. Getting the ball past him is a real problem when he moves forward.

If this commentator calls Ivo the "Croatian sensation" once more, I'll -

Well actually I'll do nothing, because I can't turn him off, there is no score on the screen so I have to hear the umpire.

Andy finally beat Karlovic at the net. He went fairly wide at the Karl bh and the big croat couldn't control the volley. That and a few errors got it to deuce, two shots later both players took their seats.
