Not sure whether to start a new thread re Andy coaching Nojo, but want to say that I feel torn and am taking more interest in Nojo. I wanted him to get knocked out when he went down a set but also didn't want it for Andy - and don't want Andy to get sacked.
Anyone else relate?
Yes
The sooner this partnership ends the better.
Agreed. My preferred scenario would be Andy ending the partnership, saying it's not a good fit and he doesn't feel he can add enough to Nojo's game.
(I don't want him sacked because I don't want him "tainted" by this and I want everyone else lining up to hire him! And then for him to get hired by a series of GB players (men and women) to take them to the next level.)
I love the idea of him helping our next gen
Private Eye echoes many of the thoughts expressed about the partnership. Not sure how much can be quoted - it includes:
"Headlines such as "No, No Novak!", "It's No-vax Djokovic!" and "Serbian Spoilsport is Sick Joke-ovic!" may have led readers to believe that we may in some way have disapproved of his antics both on and off court. However, in light of his wise appointment of the peerless and ever-popular Sir Andy Murray as his coach ... we now acknowledge that Novak is one of our own."
from "Novak Djokovic - AN APOLOGY" in Private Eye Issue 1641, 24 Jan- 6 Feb 2025, page 33 - the issue with front-cover "Donald Trump an apology".
Have to say I am pleased - not sure Emma and Andy would have worked at all, think they are too different as people. And Andy had more to lose, IMO, than Emma. Even though it may not have ever been a serious proposition
I think you have to see it as a professional transaction - Andy clearly has a lot of value to give, can see how he can make a difference and is up for it.
Its not a lot different from Mourinho managing Chelsea, Man Utd, Spurs, Roma - they are all just jobs at the end of the day, and pros dont have to have personal allegiances or even like their pupil to be able to do a good job.

But, yeah, I dont like Novak either!
... but despite what we may think of the foreign chap, Messrs Murray and Djokovic appear to actually be friends.
I guess we'll never really know the dynamics of the pro circuit, and they have essentially grown up together albeit as rivals.
The first Masters is only a month or so away, but I can't see anything on whether Mr Murray is still going to be in Nojo's camp. Anyone else found anything?

The Times reported this - as taken in turn by the Mail
Looks like they're going forward then. I can't say that I'm super surprised as Andy retired due his body not the travel. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in his inner life.
