Just hoping for the sake of population growth that this isn't a 5 set match. wink

Well, Roger's would be a six-setter - he only seems to go in for duplicates

But, yes, four seems plenty !

(Not sure that Andy's was planned - he made some comment last year about lockdown that, now, with hindsight, might indicate that. And Teddy is very young. Anyway, not a criticism - my family call them 'surprises', not 'accidents' - rather a lot of 'surprises' thoughnobiggrin ......)

All the best to them !

Andy reported to be "puzzled & demoralised" by the injury which forced him to hand back his Miami Open wild card yesterday. There was a longer "expletive-deleted" article by George Bellshaw on the Metro site yesterday.

Russell Fuller making it sound like Andy may well have his wildcard to RG - of course, he might decide he's not ready at the last minute but fingers crossed

"This from Guy Forget, who watched Murray practise with Novak Djokovic in Rome. Listening to him, it sounds as if Murray will get a main draw Roland Garros wildcard if he says he is ready.

I read into it the same - Murray is a draw and someone theyd like to have in so if he says he is ready, he will get it. my understanding was that they wanted to see him play singles first though, and the geneva or lyon events are next week for which he apparently wants a wild card - it is thursday and no word on that in terms of which one, anyone got any insights?

Andy Murrays expected singles return is on hold. He was offered a wildcard for Geneva, but turned it down after he had played doubles in Rome. No reason yet given.

Presumably clay is in doubt now. Last grass hurrah?

No explanation from the Murray camp as yet for this. Strange decision on the face of it after what he said last week. Will he want to play RG qualifying if he hasn't had any singles matches on clay?

The last sentence is telling. If Andy can do the grass starting in Stuttgart or Nottingham, great, if not, it seems hard to tell where he will go from here. I feel we could be on the cusp of the end of Andys career, one last grass hurrah would be great. If not, Andy can go out on a fabulous career and have no regrets that he didnt try everything to get back.

I think we've been looking at the end of his career for the last 2 years. everytime this section has a new unread post I think it's going to be someone posting he has announced his retirement.

i hope it isn't.cry But if that is what Andy is planning, do you think he would announce it in advance? It doesn't strike me as the kind of thing he'd do, what with all the fuss that would come with it.

I will be delighted to see Andy at Wimbledon - but it's a swan song . He's not been in any way relevant for a long time now and though we all wish him good health and good matches it's not a realistic outcome. I'd rather like to see this done and dusted before it becomes any more embarrassing .
