I do understand that some tennis fans are completely opposed to wild cards and I totally understand that point of view. But as long as they continue to exist I can't think of anyone more deserving of one than Andy. He's a multiple Grand Slam winner, multiple time Aussie Open finalist, underwent major surgery for a total hip replacement less than two years ago, within a year had recovered sufficiently to win an ATP title, and looked competitive playing the other top 80 Brits at the recent BOTB tournament. Quite honestly if he doesn't deserve one I don't know who does?

PS I consider myself to be a sports fan as well as an Andy fan.

I'm a fan of Lucy Pinder mate, doesn't mean I would know what to do

The participants of this board could run the LTA

As well as training with Evo in their little quarantine bubble of week 1 in Melbourne, in week 2 they can join with a second bubble, apparently it will be Shapo and Christian Garin with Andy and Dan.

Article by Atuart Fraser in today's Times about traing partners in Malbourne.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/method-behind-picking-a-hitting-partner-before-australian-open-3s6j3pv62

"Andy Murray decided to keep it British by putting his name down alongside Dan Evans, his Davis Cup team-mate"

"In the second week of quarantine, the practice bubbles are extended with duos allowed to come together to form a group of four players Murray and Evans, for example, will team up with Denis Shapovalov, the left-handed world No 12 from Canada, and Cristian Garín, the right-handed world No 22 from Chile. Again, much thought will have gone into this to ensure that different game styles are accounted for during preparations."

Oh Dear. Andy has tested positive for Covid 19

twitter.com/Mike_Dickson_DM/status/1349655117889478656

Speedy recovery Andy

Edit

Further to this, there are now several other tweets flying around from Mike Dickson and Stuart Fraser that suggest Andy tested positive a few days ago and is self isolating. He is still hoping to compete in the AO but arriving later than others to Australia.

Be surprised if this is allowed. The Australians appear to be quite strict on when they are going to allow players in.

This facet of coronavirus reporting surprises me: when someone famous tests positive, the reporting centres around the inconvenience and how that can be avoided.

-- for friends and family, it is "How bad will it be? I wonder if they will be hospitalised - I hope they don't die"

As regards Mr Murray, I hope that he only has mild symptoms if any, and wish him a speedy recovery.

That is such a blow to him, and presumably to his team also. His 'bubble' must be quite large and very likely others are positive also. Just hope they can prevent further spread and that none of them become seriously ill.

Mike Dickson was reporting that there was a small outbreak of Covid at Roehampton and that Paul Jubb had tested positive too.

I guess there are a lot of people now self isolating.
