Girls: Tennis Europe Winter Cups 2007.

Blast! We drew the last team we would like to draw - Belarus.

It's pretty simple - we must win the doubles - Orlik isn't losing unless she is getting injured.

So who do we play? Making Jessica play Orlik would just be decreasing her energy levels on for day 2.
We should make Jennifer play Orlik, Laura play their number two and then hope that the sisters will win the doubles.

If that works, well and good. If it doesn't, we can wait for 2008 when Jess will be pretty much where Orlik is at the moment.

Laura Robson (ranked 55) beat Alyesha, Belarus no 2 (ranked 27) 2-6, 7-6(2), 6-1 in the first match.

Jennifer Ren plays Orlik in the 2nd singles.

Good to see that they aren't playing Jessica. She needs to play tomorrow.

Congrats to Laura, although that result is far from a surprise.
Now come on, Jennifer. Try and beat Orlik. Impossible is nothing.

Yeah!!!!

Jen lost 2 and 4. Decent performance.
We won the doubles 1 and 4.

Title should be ours!

It was an anticlimax as we lost.

Jessica lost to their number one (ranked 10 in Europe) by 62 75.
Laura won her sigles match but then Jennifer and Laura lost the doubles match.

I don't really know what's the logic behind not playing the sisters in doubles. Surely a settled partnership should be given the preference?

I thought that we had it after we defeated Belarus. Russia's team looks stronger as a whole, but they don't have a player like Orlik who's practically unbeatable.

We lost the third/fourth play off, but Laura Robson won her match 3 and 0. She has been one of the best performers out here, surely!

Just imagine how good a team we will have next year - both Jessica and Laura will be of age. And we can call up Joanna Henderson or Alice Hopkins as the third member. Are any of the 1995 girls that good?
