Dan (Cox) will need to reach the semis to affect his singles total. Will be tough as Piro is very good on the dirt and there could be a few other good players in that section. But I'm sure that he can do it.
Wow! They updated the second round results real quick today.
Second round:
Daniel Cox [72] defeated Andre Stabile [235] of Brazil by 75 67 63. Daniel Evans [60] defeated Juan Vazquez-Valenquez [296] of Argentina by 75 60. David Rice [91] defeated Guido Andreozzi [516] by 67 61 62.
Daniel Cox [72] defeated Christian Alvarez [439] of Ecuador by 61 63. Daniel Evans [60] lost to Agustin Picco [457] of Atgentina by 46 46. David Rice [91] lost to Ivan-Garcia Castro [343] of Brazil by 67 57.
Cox got a comfortable win there. Don't judge players here by their rankings as many of the South American players skip Juniors to an extent (or even totally), but have great records in Futures. Better luck next time to Evans and Rice.
Cox/Dyce, Evans/Rice and Thompson/Vucic are through to the doubles quarters.
Cannae explain it. Hope he isn't injured or something.
Dan plays Stephane Piro for a place in the last four. Piro is a good player as he made the finals of the high profile tournament in Istres on clay last year, besides beating Jon Eysseric. Dan will need to play very well to beat him. I'm sure that he can do it!
