And Liam fulfils his half of the bargain - eventually:

L16:  (1) Liam Broady WR 279 defeated (Q) Linus Frost (SWE) UNR by 6-1 4-6 6-0

ergo

QF:  (1) Liam Broady WR 279 vs (5) Ed Corrie WR 336  hmm

Not sure if Liam went on a hot streak or Frost just went cold, but good to see Liam run away with that decider.

Now we have the problems of split loyalties for a QF. On this occasion, and with no disrespect to Ed whatsoever, I will be cheering for Liam. I think he needs the win more than Ed does. But good luck to both of them anyway. Let's hope it is a high quality match.

Love it !! But Bob's capable of far better, something like I fought de Loore and de Loore won comes to mind ;)

Anyway back to the tennis, very happy to see Liam progress this week, and eventhough I know Ed and he's a real good guy, I hope Liam sneaks it tomorrow.

Would be nice to see Liam build up the ranking to possibly get into Aus open quallies.

I refrained from that one today as I have use it here before, although it did appear in my tweet to Soto Tennis today when commenting on Lloyds result.

And further puns over on the French thread, too.

My loyalties are well and truly split on this one: both players I always like to see do well, and both could use the win. So just hope it's a good match that both winner and lose can claim with pride!

Liam and Ed locked at 5-5 in the opening set. Liam seems to have the edge slightly. He is 0/5 on BP conversions but Ed yet to create a BP. Sounds like a recipe for Ed nicking the 1st set on a TB to me.

Liam created a 6th BP in the final game of the set but Ed held to take the set to a TB. In the end, Liam took that TB 7-5.

It was a clever piece of jinxing by Bob.
