Disappointing loss for Maia. Emily now plays the Russian who had two markedly different experiences against Freya at Roehampton/Wimbledon

In the top half of the draw the 10th seed is Frech. She has a WTA ranking of 385 and has only played one junior event since January 2014. Plays Sebov next. Chen, whom Katie plays next, is also a 1999, but won her $10k title in 2014. A couple of sleepers.

They seem to have reversed Emily's result. Hopefully it's the correct result.

In which case, well done Emily! Good win.

Assuming the result is correct (!), Katie won in a tight one: 6-7 (5) 6-4 6-4

Yes, hopefully Katie has indeed got that win

As you pointed out in your earlier post, Traveller, Chen was certainly not a girl to be underestimated.

It seems that Ryan unfortunately couldn't follow up on hte great win of yesterday, and lost 6-4 6-4, to the JWR 53 boy.

Emily Arb's results doesn't seem to be moving any more so WELL DONE her - a very emphatic win against a higher-ranked player.'

Em has also won her doubles so all good.

And well done to Katie, of course, for what looks like to have been quite a fight.

Although I haven't analysed her results in depth, Katie does seem to like playing a full three sets of tennis when on her travels, the first set as a warm up and if I remember from her Aussie open run giving her opponent a good start in the second set before reeling them in.

I used to win quite a substantial amount of beer off a friend I had known since primary school playing him at table tennis left handed until I had conceded 15 points and then swapping hands to reel him back in, it worked well until he noticed on a particularly rainy trip to Tenerife but we were about 23. Difficult to tell when watching on liive score I know but.....

And of course big for Emily

Just to add that Em Arb is still in full-time school - so even more congrats to her.

And she confirms that her LTA funding has been cut by £4k this year.

(I would love to see what the LTA are actually still paying for......)

She thanks the charity SportsAid for their grant which will help her, in some way, pay for her ongoing tournaments next year.

Do hope she doesn't go TOO doubles-y on us though.....

Yes, thanks CD, very interesting.

In all the circumstances, Emily's progress this year now seems to me even more impressive.
