Not good He's defended just 8 of the 50 points from Wrexham last year.
That leaves him at WR139, and likely to end the week in the low 140s....
Still, it was a bad draw: Bozo's on the rise, with his Aussie Open performance, and then beating Phau here in R1. He's up at WR 102 now.
Alex has now got until the end of Indian Wells (Week 11) to get the big points from the tournaments associated with his end of year ranking. After that, he'll be out of the lists for ATP events. He's already lost his chance of seedings in Challengers.
Have to say that's the weirdest thread I've ever read what with the random scoreboard/activeboard editor and scores themselves!
Gutting that Alex couldn't take it, Count/USM you'll have to let us know what he says about that match. Oh well, on the plus side he'll have more time to get to and get used to Delray Beach (that is his next tournament isn't it?)

yep, top 16 (8 seeds, 8 non- seeds) go straight in to the 8 RR groups. the rest (9 DEs, 4 qualies, 3 WC) have a playoff to get to be the third players in each of the RR groups. Edit: sorry, there's only 3 WCs. Looking at how it worked in Adelaide, Alex, as a DE should get to play a qualifier or a wildcard in his elimination match.
i also added that i bet if it is 2 de's vs each other 1 will be alex and the other the highest ranked non KO de guy, you know it will be, this is alex we are talking about :)
or possibly a huge, late entry player on a WC, like federer or something
