In the fourth match, we need to decide whether Blake or Gonzalez  is the preferred opponent - Andy will be good at beating Spanish speakers, so I reckon let's go for Blake,  so Andy can play Gonzo.

Your wish is my command.

Very good.  Shame the pins didn't work on Tommy Haas.... (Andy must now reach the final to overtake him) Edit: He doesn't overtake Nalbandian as previously claimed!!

OK, use the Blake pins on Nadal please!!

Davydenko  beats Berdych

- So Andy can overtake both him and Djokovic and go to WR 12 if he beats Nadal...............

Andy needs to win another round after beating Nadal to overtake Berdych.
Or so I think....

You're right - I'm getting carried aqay with myself. Still, it's "only" Gonzo after Rafa

It wasn't to be.......

Still, he'll finish the week ranked 14th (as long as Mardy doesn't win the tournament), and he's within spitting distance of Djokovic still.

Tomorrow, I guess we'd like Fish to go out, and probably Robredo too, so that he's within reach after Andy wins Indian Wells and Miami.

So near and yet so far

14 is still prety impressive though! Hopefully we can get Fish out tomorrow (especially as I now want Andy Roddick to win the tournament).

I'm pretty sure (haven't double-checked the US Open) that the Australian Opens are the only ones where Andy has failed to exceed expectations/his seeding. Which I thought was quite an interesting snippet.

Drew's hard hat is safe  - As is Mad's digestive system, and Andy's ranking of 14th.  Fish goes out.

Roddick overtakes Robredo and Blake to rise to 4th. Robredo can, of course overtake him if he beats the Fed.

So Haas moves into the top 10, overtaking Ancic and Nalbandian

Roddick can overtake Davydenko and go to Wr 3 if he beats Federer in their semi.

^ That didn't happen. However, Haas is in the semis, gets an extra 200 pts, no change. Gonzo is also in the semis, and looks to win it (just won first set 6-1) in which case he would be p5 behind Roddick...

... Federer has a 9-0 record against Gonzo. In my opinion on Sunday evening that will be 10-0.
