RE: Wroclaw challenger (PL) 2007

Wow, what a stunning win for Alex against a former top 5 player, this has to rate among his best ever wins !

Superb stuff and just what he needs with all those Bergamo pts to defend this week. Got a great chance of going deep into this tournament now.

I'll try and get some quotes from him later

Go Alex! Just what I ordered. Now off to read about German elections this time, when I return I'd like the match to be won please Alex.

Have fun with that Bethan

I tried, I really did. Imagine my delight when i returned to find Alex had listened to me! I'll have to read about elections during more of his matches. Unfortuantely got to go and do the Italian elections now and there's nothing to look forward to when I return.

Well done to Alex, I really didn't expect him to beat the second seed. This is exactly the kind of match he needs to be winning and hopefully is the start of a great week for him.

Nathaliia did you get to see any of the match? If so what are your thoughts?

Ummm, my thoughts? Alex just outplayed him, that's all. Schuettler wanted to fight sometimes, sometimes not...

I wrote a txt on the website about that match but please, forgive me I'm too tired to translate. If Alex keeps the level he can get into semis.

Thanks for that Nathii,

and don't worry about not translating your text, I wouldn't even be able to write a short post in a different language so I'm grateful you've done that!

I found a Polish-English online translator....this is their English translation of Nathi's report on the Wroclaw website:

" It has overcome in (to) last end (end) from great britain from germany with two today match ( arranged ) singlowym Alex Bogdanovic Rainera Schuettlera 6:3, 6:4. There was good match, but it was on tribunes people niewielu. It complained Rainer Schuettler, that match must play today already, as yesterday in poland after afternoon (south) play united states only appear ( ). In spite of requests for directed < lead (drive) > competition supervisora, must appear on court to monday, but probably, attitude was not he (its; his; it) from start positive far too < market >. It has carried away orange t-shirt, perhaps, have to prompt him (it) for battle, but < cure > in first set, when it played through 1:5, it looked as if one of child played apparels instead of it (him) for feeding of ball by sponsors in same color ( dressed ). It has approached for it for match with verve Bogdanović, heavy passages across expecting, but when cases simply (easy) begin carry on far too < market >, concentration has left him (it) fastly enough. It has aligned almost Schuettler. Second (other) set was stiff < cut > more, however, there is no doubt, by moment even, which (who) deserves advance payment from tennis players more. Really, match was it at not bad. Has crosscountry in runs after final line fairest lat < summer > < year > Schuettler and it was not catch up precise petards of englishmen in state (condition). Besides, it took advantage openings of attacks at net occurring Bogdanović. And it has not said in this last competition of word surely. "

Umm, it's not court1 but it's another venue. In main venue there is only one court. And he will lose, sorry.

Bloomers is playing Czech qualifier Bohdan Ulihrach.    I think he can count himself pretty unlucky with this draw, Ulihrach is probably the most difficult of all the qualifiers, he didn't drop a set over the weekend.

31 year old Ulihrach is currently ranked 313 but back in 1997 he was ranked as high as 22. He was a regular in the world's top 75 until he was wrongly convicted of testing positive for nandrolone in 2002. He returned to the tour in 2003 but by then his ranking had slipped to 228. Ulihrach is at his best on clay, he reached a challenger final and two quarters on the red dirt in 2006, but he has the game to be an effective player on indoor surfaces aswell as he showed last week in Heilbronn when he knocked out Rainer Schuettler in straight sets on the way to reaching the quarters.

I think that Richard has a good chance but he'll need to serve really well. Ulihrach played 1 Brit last year, he beat Martin Lee in rd1 of US Open qualies.

Nathi, any chance of any scores from this match from you or the website ?
