Alex wins 6-7(4), 7-6(6), 7-6(2)

What a win for Alex !   Especially that final set breaker, 3 aces can't get much better than that. Sounds like he didn't play as well as he did against Schuettler, especially in the rallies, making more errors and not running for so many balls but he held his nerve. Great stuff !

3rd set stats:

Alex hit 7 aces, 1 double fault, won 81% pts on 1st serve, won 75% pts on 2nd serve, got 68% 1st serves in.

Klec hit 3 aces, 1 df, won 83% pts on 1st serve, won 62% pts on 2nd serve, got 64% 1st serves in.

Just 4 points between them in that final set !

Amazing serving performance from Alex today, 16 aces !  His 1st serves was in high 70s % aswell

Hell of a hard fought win! Great stuff.

Thanks for the commentary guys!

21 points so far, and a QF place. Another win would be a boost up to 40.

Plays winner of Zib-Koellerer. Zib I know of, Koellerer I didn't.
Koellerer: Austrian, 23 years old, Got to Q2 in Oz open, R16 in Wrexham, currently WR 228, on way up. One challenger final last year, Bogota.
Zib is Czech, 30 now, was an ATP regular who made it to 51. Currently WR 131 but on way down. Got most of his ranking points from this tournie last year, where he finalled. So he will be motivated, as a big ranking drop will face loss. Semifinalled at Challenger in Germany two weeks back, so has some form at the moment.

You hadn't heard of Crazy Dani Koellerer?  You must never read MTF! He is famous for being pretty much the biggest idiot on the Challenger tour (and that is saying something)

Soo happy to see Alex win again. Long may it continue! I have to say I was biting my nails just reading through the scores so I can only imagine what you guys felt watching the scoreboard! Thanks to everyone who did scores and commentary, hopefully next match I'll be around and able to reciprocate!

That was great reading. Was so frustrated I couldn't be arounf for Boggo's match but just reading it stressed me out so its good I wasn't there at the time!

Nice one Boggo! Take it to Zib!

A good win for Boggo, but if we want him to break the top 100, lets be honest it was a match he should win.

It was nice to see him win some tie breaks, I am sure he must have a bad record in them recently as he always seems to lose tie breaks when he has played them

Does anyone know if he has direct entry for next week or does he have to qualify as if he goes far this week will he have to miss next week?

Still think I would prefer him to win this event and get 90 points and have to miss next week

Mike

at the moment alex is 3 places out of a DE in San Jose, i dont think he will be able to make qulaies for the event, he wont play untill friday in poland. Of course if he can win this challenger that would be great for him.

there is the option of marseille qualies but i dont think alex will go for it, and he may well not be able to make it anyway depending on time of match on friday.
