Alan has played Luzzi twice before, losing to him 4 & 4 in Freudenstadt in 2004 and 4 & 3 in San Marino in 2005, both on clay, which is Luzzi's favourite surface by far and the one Alan used to claim (with Murray-like credibility) was his favourite too. In fact, Luzzi beat Andy on clay too, 3 & 3 in Valencia ATP qualifying in April 2005. His most recent result against a Brit was very different though - a 4 & 2 loss to Jonny Marray in Sunderland in November 2005.
