he lost in rd1 against Ljubo. No points for rd1 of an ATP now, unless you've qualified

More importantly, Andy's 18th best result is 60 points, and so any results which gave him less points than that (R1 was 5 last year, R2 was 15), are not counted towards his ranking. So no, he's not defending anything.

The downside is, though, that he'll need to reach the semis just to improve his points total by 15 points, but it's worth getting a good result or two in the bank ahead of losingthe 175 he has for San Jose last year.

but last year didnt you get rd 1 points? so surely he has those to defend regardless? unless they have wiped them off in some other way? and i guess this will effect boggo from stella and nottignham?

Again,  only your top 18 results count towards your ranking, so the 5 points that Andy has from last year don't count towards his ranking, so they're not being "defended".

He did get R1 points last year but as Rob points out his 18th best is 60 so they don't form pasrt of his ranking

No points for first round losers, so yes, he will lose them.

But it doesn't make a difference in the grand scheme of things. Other players also lose it and in the end it becomes more fair.

So Panda will get to see Flan the man Should be a good chance for Flanagan to get some good wins, the fields there aren't particularly strong.

This is in Delhi, so I won't get to see Flanagan.

Don't know about TV coverage. They show Futures and Challengers on a channel if there isn't important going on, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

The didn't show the Futures in December but there was Live coverage of the Sat that was held a few months back.

It's a pleasant shock to see Thornley going for a Futures in Spain.

Maybe he is doing a tie up with some Academy? In any case, qualies in foreign countries can teach you a lot. This should be really help his game.
