RE: USA F1 - Tampa

Jonathan must be Francesca's older bro.

Google tells me that he goes to Arizona State University.

RE: USA F1 - Tampa 10K (hard)

Miles Kasiri has popped up here with a surprise wild card as he starts to try to climb back into the top 1000:

R1: (WC) Miles Kasiri WR 1330 v (4) Nikita Kyvonos (USA) WR 404

Not a great draw, but it will be interesting to see how well he does.

Ah of course !!

I was wondering where Miles was as Mike Raphael said that he's now injury free and aiming to crack the top 500 this year. I'd expected him to go for the Sheffield 15K but had forgotten that this 10K is in Tampa. Miles trains a lot with Boggo, Mackin and Delgado as they're all coached by Mike. He went with Boggo and Mackin to the USA, he's also based at Saddlebrooks now, that's why he's got a wc.

Aha! Saddlebrook is in Tampa, so this makes sense. Good to see them help him out.

Best of luck to him.

Kasiri plays tonight. He's played Kryvonos once before, in the juniors. Kryvonos won 6-7[4], 6-3, 6-3 but that was back in 2003. The American is now ranked 404, in the autumn he made a challenger quarter-final and beat Jamie Baker 7-5, 6-2. He also reached two 10K finals and two semis last year.

By the way, Ireland's Conor Niland knocked out the top seed (ranked 227) in 3 sets in rd1

Shame but not overly surprising. Kryvonos is ranked a lot higher and an on-form player, particularly on US hard courts. This must have been Miles' first match for ages !!

Hopefully he gets a few matches under his belt next week in USA F2, I expect he'll enter qualies ?

Hope he enters F2 in USA or Britain....

Tough first match, probably only one break in each set?? Maybe two in the second?
