Bladetiger went along on Tuesday, think he saw a few of the Brits, not sure who tho. Unfortunately I wasn't around at the time to post score updates

Chris Eaton played pretty well. But at some point when your 19 and you get a Challenger WC and you get a great draw, then you've got to take advantage if you're gonna move on, Hilton and Goodall were both in the 300's when they were 19. I think he looks quite a nice player, but he hasnt got a big personality (none of our younger ones have, they all seem really quiet - the ones i have seen) and I cant see him troubling top 250 or so.

Ed Corrie is quite a nice player, but he's nowhere near Challenger level yet, the fact that he got a WC says more about how little there is out there than where he is, so he really was outclassed, against a guy I dont think looked in great shape. If he plays well tomorrow Bloomers will beat him, although Bloomers still looks very early season to me.

There's a big chance for someone this week as many of theplayers still dont look like they are quite there yet.

Yeah fair comment, tho' it did hold Fed back for a bit where he kept getting beat by people with big personalities and less tennis skill.

In fact there was a time when he was widely expected to be another Xavier Malisse.

Sadly Chris Eaton (nor anyone else) has Roger Federer's skills, and so I feel it would help him  to develop a bit more of an aura about him.

You dont have to be a top player to do that, and when you are trying to identify at an early age who is going to make it and who is not, it does help if they've got a bit of presence on court.

See Alan Mackin for an example.

Thanks for those reports, Toby.

I agree with the fact that having a bit of presence on court is necessary. It also helps to get the crowd behind you.

That's not much of an advantage at Wrexham, but you're right in general terms.

Heehee. I was speaking of the time when (if...) they play in the Tour.

Dont think Richard has ever reached a challenger final, so lets hope that this is the week when he breaks that duck!
