Begins on 7th January. It's played on indoor hard.
Tom Knights, Neil Pauffley, Simon Baker, Matthew James and Dominic Hodgson in the main draw. Dan Smethurst, James Chaudry, Edward Jones and Scott Sears in the qualies draw. Oliver Evans is in the alts.
Smethurst needs seven withdrawals for a main draw place and there are two SE spots. So we can hope that he will get in.
Good news for Dan. Let's hope he can take advantage and win a few matches.

Shame these two have to meet so early. Assume you expect Smethurst to win this Arka?

I guess; but that's based on the fact that Smethurst has the better results of the two.
That may not be the case always. Nadal defeats Federer, Malisse defeats Nadal etc. I know nothing about the gamestyles of either of these two boys except that Pauflley has a massive serve.
Pauffley (285) plays Dusan Lajovic (627) of Serbia & Montenegro for a place in the semis. Knights (304) plays Marin Draganja (388) of Croatia for a place in the semis. Draganja beat him last week.
Pauffley/Smethurst and Knights/James are through to the doubles semis.
Pauffley will be ranked comfortably inside the top 250 when the tables are updated. Since he is still alive in both disciplines, it can always go higher.
Knights won 7-5 6-7(6) 6-3. Pauffley won 3-6 6-2 7-5.
Pauffley (285) plays Dusan Lajovic (206) of Sweden for a place in the finals. Knights (304) plays Rasmus Jonasson (122) of Sweden for a place in the finals.
Extremely difficult match for Knights against top seed Jonasson, who got the title at Salk last week.
