The idea of the British Tour is helping people who want to turn pro but don't have the required amount of money.
Great minds think alike
I think the British tour is great, top juniors get the chance to compete against players with world ranking points and sometimes even guys of the class of Lee Childs and Matt Smith enter when they are coming back from injury or out of form.

I think they only play it when there are no futures in GB, for match practise and dosh (I think) . They do go abroad for tournaments but you have to remember that for players of their ranking, they are generally making a loss at each tournament. So, they only tend to go abroad on special tours organised by the academies where they train, that way they can afford it.
Maybe Draper, Annacone and Gilbert would like to fund a few tours with their personal spare change. They wouldn't even notice the money gone from their wallet and it may help brits to develop better than their master plan

Yep.
Also on the female front, girls like Jess Ren get to play people ranked in the top 1000. That can teach them a lot.

Yep. And instead of giving our players money, we are busy signing high profile names as coaches every alternate week.

Well I think that the LTA does fund the academies to do these tours to be fair. For example the Sutton academy tour to Aus, NZ and Japan earlier this year was LTA funded.
I agree though, I think they should use some of the dosh they're spending on coaches to fund some more of those tours. There's a lot of emphasis on the future and not so much emphasis on helping the current batch of pros battling it out on the tour.
