RE: Tim's Competitors Week 1

OK revised chances: The following can still overtake.

Julien Benneteau, by reaching the qf in Chennai.
Arnaud Clement, by reaching the sf in Adelaide.
Xavier Malisse, by reaching the sf in Chennai.
Gilles Simon, by winning in Adelaide.
Carlos Moya, by winning in Chennai.
Paradorn Srichaphan, by winning in Chennai.
Jonas Bjorkman, by winning in Doha.
Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo, by winning in Doha.
Max Mirnyi, by winning in Doha.

So, for Tim in week 1 after the end of round 1,

Best case: 36 (+3)
Worst case: 42 (-3)

So not bad at all really!

Malisse plays Boggo target Galvani, and Moya  plays Kevin Kim in Chennai today.

Bjorkman plays Davydenko, Mirnyi  plays Boggo threat Chiudinelli  and Monfils plays Andy Threat Youzhny in Doha.

I'd suggest pins into Malisse and Moya, leaving Bjorkman, Mirnyi and Monfils to knock out seeds and threats.

Xabby Malisse is a set and a break up - looking too good for Galvani

Mirnyi  knocks out Chiudinelli for Boggo.  Now it's time for him to concentrate on the doubles, and lose his QF on Friday, methinks.

Now that Bjorkman's out to Davydenko, the table's updated for Wednesday's play.

Bjorkman, Ramirez- Hidalgo and Monfils go out in Doha.

Moya and Mirnyi advance.

Tonight sees number 2 threat, Clement play his second RR  - against Boggo threat Guccione. Mathieu also plays Del Potro.  Pins at the ready!

Thanks Seagull!  I've updated the table.

Today, we have number one threat, Benneteau  playing Andreev in Chennai. Julien overtakes if he wins - so lets hope Igor can stay uninjured!

Ahead, Olly Rochus plays his QF against Davydenko in Doha.

Behind, a certain Murray takes on Mirnyi  in Doha;

Srichaphan  takes on Koubek, and Santoro plays Phau in Chennai. Neither can overtake this week

We're now down to a max of four who can overtake(worst case down 1, best case up 3), so your best voodoo curses into today's two: Benneteau and Mirnyi.

Srichaphan went out 1 & 2 to Koubek - looks like his injury's not sorted out yet.

Benneteau  won the first set against Andreev in a tiebreak 1-0 Benneteau, with serve, in the second.

Benneteau won the second 6-2.  so Tim drops a place to WR 37 - he's still up two on the week, though

Tim's table updated.

Benneteau overtakes. Santoro advances in Chennai.

Mirnyi goes out  - you might have heard about that. As does Ollie Rochus.

 So Tim's at 37th.

Malisse, Moya and Santoro play in Chennai tomorrow.

Bethan, can they all overtake?

threats left:

Xavier Malisse, by reaching the sf in Chennai.
Carlos Moya, by winning in Chennai.

unfortunately it is possible for both to overtake.

On the plus side, these two are the only ones left so Tim's worst case is 39, no change from last week. (best case 37, plus 2)

First set to Malisse, and he immediately breaks Santoro in the second. 6-4 *1-0

come on Fabrice - Prove Zimonjic wrong - he thinks you should have been playing doubles in Doha!
