That's the table updated for today. All those in Doha won including Andy .
Baghdatis overtakes Haas to become the new WR11.
Tonight in Adelaide, Gasquet (v. Dancevic) and Hewitt (v. Kunytsin) play their second round- Robin matches. A win for Gasquet takes him just 5 points behind Andy.
Also, Korolev plays Spadea in Stepanek's group. We want Spadea to win, so Stepanek goes out!
As an aside, player who go straight to the round robin stage (ie don't have to play the 'elimination round') but don't then win a match, do they get 0 points or 20 points? It doesn't really seem fair either way!!

0 points. If you don't win a match, you don't get any points unless it's a mandatory event.
- it'll be interesting to see how many of the players who could win Challengers, but regularly get knocked out of ATPs carry on with the ATP tournaments....

Thanks Rob, that's what I'd assumed but i wondered if I was right or not. It just seems a bit mean really that the player who only just gets into the round robin stage (on ranking) can go away with nothing when the guy just below him in the list could win 10 points just by beating a wildcard or qualifier. I know it's not that simple in reality but on paper it looks like it's rewarding the lower ranked guys a bit more
Hopefully the ATP realises that no one likes the round robin system and scraps it before too long, even the Pim Pim doing the ATPplayer blog hasn't been behind it!

It's been wonderfully ironic, that despite the comments he's been making, he's the main (only?) player to benefit from the RR system by going through despite losing his first RR game.

Wonderfully ironic indeed!
I was a little confused by the luckly loser thing though. Tipsy retired in his first match so Vassallo Arguello got in, with absolutely no chance of going through? The only way he could've gotten through was by winning his match against Kunitsyn and Hewitt then losing to Kunitsyn and V-A's stats being better, I think. All very confusing!

I didn't spot that - excellent fun!! Well, Vas- Arg still got a chance of getting at least the 20 points, and it's not impossible for Kunytsin to beat Hewitt in 3 sets - in fact he's just taken him at 5-4* to deuce in the second set
well it's tiebreak time in that match. We want Kunitsyn to win and knock Hewitt out but he's 3-0 down at the moment (i think that's two minibreaks). Curiously the scoreboard has the last point down as '5th ace for I.K' and yet awarded the point to Hewitt
oh well, Come on Igor!
