Naomi Cavaday Maria Sharapova Nicole Vaidisova Gael Monfils Radek Stepanek Tommy Haas Xavier Malisse Nenad Zimonjic
- Good to see Naomi mentioned in the same breath as the others!
I was just going to past exactly the same thing. She does stick out a bit. Any non brits will be thinking "I know who most of those are, but who on earth is Naomi Cavaday!?"
There must be ten other Juniors of Naomi's class training there this winter. But she is the only one who gets a mention. If he mentioned a 17 year old Russian ranked around where Naomi is, no one in Russia would care about it.
But we are seriously starved of world class female talents, a fact Nick is going to exploit. This is a great way to get some publicity so that he gets some British paying students as well. The principal is simple - track down world class names like Tara Moore and Sharapova and make them study for free, and squeeze 40,000 dollars a year out of millionaires.
Honestly.... he tried to get Gastao Elias a WC into Wimbledon Juniors this year. That was ages before he became a part of his academy. It was pretty obvious after that move that Elias would go and join him. Nice way to tempt 15 year olds into your academy.
I don't know what Nick will gain from this, but I'm pretty sure that Naomi will benefit a lot.

Lol!
I read somewhere (it may be further up this thread but I'm too tired to look back now) that the beeb will be showing more than usual on interactive so I'm looking forward to being able to watch some, hopefully, and enjoy life with freeview unlike last year when i didn't even have a telly.
BUT, if it all goes wrong I will also be begging for copies! I can offer the DC v ukraine in return!

The word is that the Aussie Open courts are a lot faster and lower bouncing this year. This will suit Henman and Boggo, Bloomfield etc down the the ground.
It won't suit Andy so much, he's best on the medium fast, high bouncing courts f the States but as he showed this year, he can adapt his game to pretty much all surfaces.
I imagine Federer is happy about this, it's been thought that the Aussie Open is the slam where Nadal can cause him most problems after the French and the surface changes will suit him a lot more than Rafa.
From the Age: http://www.theage.com.au/news/tennis/increase-in-tempo-will-suit-hewitt/2006/12/10/1165685554333.html
After a long practice session in brutal 40-degree heat, Wayne Arthurs said the newly relaid Melbourne Park surface had moved closer to the pace and style of a US Open hardcourt.
"Hewitt will like it, I think. He will," said Arthurs, who spent the first morning of the annual Australian Open training camp hitting with Pro Circuit wildcard winner Alun Jones and coach Paul Kilderry on an outside court.
"It's playing a little faster, I can see that — looks like they've taken a bit of the bounce out of the court. It's tough to tell in percentage terms, but it's definitely quicker than last year, and the bounce is lower. It's getting towards the US Open. It's the hardness of the court," he said. "Probably 10, 12 years ago, the 'rebound' of the Rebound Ace court you could really feel it when you walked onto it, it was like a sponge. But now they've taken levels of the layers of the court off, and it's more like a hardcourt now."
i have bought a few of there and they are very good quality
Thanks for posting that link I'm getting Federer-Nadal, Rome 2006 - the 5 hour classic for Christmas from there.
However, it'd be a lot cheaper just to get Vonce to record the Murray matches for us and get him to send the DVDs To save on postage we could pass them round to everyone who wants to see them.
