RE: British player of the month - November

I think it's pretty same as Jonny's achievements if you take Dan's age and experience into account.

It's judging how much you are improving from your level.

Surely Andy should have won every time till now otherwise?

I realise that the poll is about how players did relative to their level, but Dan's results didn't even register on the radar for me, and now mjd has reminded us what they were, I can see why. Nothing against him, it's just that he hasn't really achieved anything yet at senior level apart from show a bit of potential.

Player enter the tournaments that are at their level, so I think the main thing that counts is progressing in tournies. Hence why Boggo got my vote.

Which is your opinion, just like I have mine.

Marray should be winning such matches. It is hardly a surprise. He started the year ahead of where he is now and is 25 years old.

I think that a rookie giving top 500 players very close matches (he lost the first one 76 76 and lost the second in three sets after losing a set 2 tie breaker) and winning a fifth ranking point on a surface which isn't his best, is a greater achievement.

^ Also consider the fact that he was playing with an injury.

I beat this guy who works at the chip shop, and took the landlord from the Fox and Goose to a 3rd set tie break, do I win?

What a joke, Jonny and Boggo are only serious contenders.

Ive gone for Jonny beacuse a) I'm biased and b) it was a 125K event and he had to qualify so beat Starace in his sixth match of the event.

Depends on the rankings of the guy who works at the chip shop and the landlord from Fox and Goose.

It's sad to see that people are attacking someone just for having an opinion...

I honestly don't think that a 25 year old playing men's tennis for over six years reaching a semis after defeating two players ranked lower than 250 and a clay courter is as good an achievement as a 16 year old getting a ranking point.

If you think otherwise, that's your opinion and I respect it. Just because you like a player doesn't mean that everyone has to think that he is the best thing out there.

I am not telling that you should vote for Dan and it's a joke otherwise.
That's not something one is supposed to do in an opinion poll. It's about hearing what views everyone has.

Yes, it's about opinions and my opinion is that your opinion is a joke!

You cant hype up Dan as a potential top 10'er and then tell us he's player of the month because he's beat an unranked Brit.

Jonny qualified for a 100K event and then qualified and reached semi's of a 125K, you just cant compare.

I appreciate that you are excited about Dan Cox, and hopefully his day will come but it doesnt mean that black is white.

Pretty sure Dan would be embarrassed to win on the back of those results in comparison to Jonny and Boggo's achievements this month.

Which I must say, is utterly disrespectful of others. You should learn to listen to others too.

I hope that Jonny will crack the top 100 next year, but what he has done this month isn't much special my eyes when you see his abilities.

Marcus Willis isn't just any unranked Brit. He happens to be a very good prospect and has wins over players with ranking points. And Dan did all that with an injury and that too on a surface which isn't his best.

Come on people, can't we all respect each other's opinions and have a friendly poll?

Dan didn't win it for that matter. So the question doesn't arise.

I have listened to you, and I think you are talking nonsense, that's why I said that, that's what message boards are about. Dont get too precious, fella!

People who can't respect others shouldn't be posting on messageboards.

Grow up!

I do respect others right to have an opinion, just as I defend my right to say when they're talking crap!

i really think in future it should be split, maybe a combined juniors for both boys abnd girls, and have seprate seniors polls. that way everyone is competing at the same level as such and should be easier to judge.

i know very little about junior tennis so i am very unlikely to vote for them over a senior. whcih again might shift the vote. (apart from the fact i always vote boggo )

You are no one to say that. Dan is an option on the poll and that means that he has done something which is noteworthy.

You admitted that you are biased yourself. So you are attacking people just because they don't share an opinion with you.
Which isn't the case with me at all because I voted for Bloomers ahead of Dan last time even though Dan got a title and bagelled one of the best 16 year olds in the world who was ranked much higher than him.
