Thought some of you might be interested in the following table, which shows the career highs of all Brits who are currently ranked, when they first hit those highs, how long it's been since they hit them, where they are ranked now and how much this means they have dropped since hitting their career high.
The table is sorted by career high then by current ranking.
39 of the 59 players below have hit their career highs this year (the easiest way to find them is to look for players with nothing in the y column under "How long?"), but many of them have dropped quite alarmingly since.
Edit: I've removed the table from this post because Rob has done a better job of formatting it below.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
Edit: not sure what went wrong here - the table below was set to be in Courier font so that the columns lined up, but when I post, it switches back to Verdana ... even if I then edit it and change it back to Courier again.
Annoying, isn't it. That's why you need to use the
"[pre]"
tags: What makes it even worse is that if you change the fonts inside the post, it messes up the tags as well. Here's the table formatted (I had to cut ~& paste the text to and from notepad to lose the formatting:

For comparison, the career highs of those who have been influencing GB tennis in one way or another in the past few years (coaches, commentators, DC captains, etc) are as follows - let me know if I've missed someone!
11 Roger Taylor (1973) 14 Mark Cox (1977) 21 John Lloyd (1978) 54 Jeremy Bates (1995) 80 Mark Petchey (1994) 80 Andrew Castle (1988) 126 Chris Bailey (1989) 162 Barry Cowan (2000)
.. and the influential ex-players from overseas:
4 Brad Gilbert (1990) 12 Paul Annacone (1986) 25 Peter Lundgren (1985)
Too much messing about is required to format tables like the one above on here, but if anyone is interested in a year-end update to the career high table, you can find one at:
So taking inspiration from one of Steven's stat pages, and in light of all the career high successes that are happening at the moment, i though i'd post a "refresh" the career high's table.
Players have been included based on a somewhat arbitrary criteria: either they've achieved a singles CH of 200 or higher since 1990 or they've held an ATP ranking (single or double) since 2021 (hence why Tim is on the list along with Ken, but why for example Andrew Castle isn't).
If you spot someone is missing let me know.
Green against a name means they have a singles ranking as of 2022 (grey means they don't). And since there wasn't enough space to allow all active players to be displayed (hence why it stops at 626), the separate table on the right includes all the players who've achieved a recent CH.
Good stuff, Aber. Good to have all such CH info and to highlight new CHs.
I had actually recently thought of doing something similar myself, well on lesser scale more concentrating on updates of new CHs from active players. What put it on the back burner for now for me was us still being in the transitional covid rankings period and hence some CHs that I would maybe call a bit dodgy eg. Jodie with her old counters, and more particularly not having old counters coming off early in the year, meaming that her official current ranking / CH is well ahead of a ranking based on the last 12 months.
But now that you've set this up it's certainly worth continuing with and I will take an interest, indeed immediately compare it with the much shorter list of CHs I did put together recently
Thanks for this aberdaberdonian. 3 players this highlighted to me.
Martin Lee - reached top 100 and yet how many people really remember him? Wed die for that now.
Alex Bog- so much maligned and yet his ranking high stands up against most that have come since
Arvind - ditto to Alex to an extent and yet also a trailblazer for non white players at a time when, frankly, it was pretty tough for anyone from a non white background to make it in British tennis.
And what are all these 3 doing now for careers- well as they did, I cant see they made money for life so assume they moved into further careers ?
Boggo dared to be GB #1 during a period when there wasn't much backing him up
So what more logical than for folk to take out their frustration at the state of GB men's tennis then to repeatedly malign the guy that had made himself our best. I felt very sorry for him.
I'm not sure Boggo was ever #1? Surely Tim passed the baton onto Andy?
Yes you are no doubt right. I hadn't thought that one through. I guess it was more that he was one of our highest ranked for a long time and dared say to lose WC R1 matches at Wimbledon to much higher ranked playets.
