RE: British tennis frontpage for this site

Mr. Cox, wasn't it said that the "Who's who of the British men" topic will be unstickied once the site is up?

I'm happy to throw up bits of news to the site now and again, now that I have the login.

-If that's OK, of course: for example, item 2 right now should be Claire and Anne's doubles win in Sutton.

What's the policy to decide what goes on the home page and what goes on the "news" page? do we just copy everything from home over to news and also have a few days old news plus more minor stories?

David,

More than delighted to help with front page articles...just send me the details...do you want final edit prior to updating....any guideance would be welcome.

I also do not think the banner I created is working well at all...too blue and too much colour leakage....what do you think of this one ?

emailed it to you and Rob C.

Drew, did you get the email I sent you with the files ? If you do an article, don't worry about consulting me before you post it. The big thing to check before you upload something is if someone else has recently posted an article/s, then you need to copy and paste that into your file before uploading otherwise you will delete other people's articles.

I think that the new banner with Boggo in it looks good. I'll upload that today

Yeah, I'll do that. Need to add a photo gallery for the female players aswell on the site, several people have suggested that.

That would be great Rob, I'll send you the home and news files.

I thought that it'd be good to have the latest news stories on the homepage, then keep them up till the following day and replace them as news stories come in for that day. The news page is a kind of archive, old articles from the homepage get moved to there.   What do you think ?

Re news: that makes sense. We'll need an archiving system for the news page too.  Maybe we should integrate a blog tool to handle that? If we did, it would allow a user to see the headlines without having to scroll through all the articles. As for the homepage files - can I not just download the ones that are up on freewebs?

About 450 hits in total so far which isn't bad. It's meant that the message board (here) is getting a lot more clicks though, we normally get about 5 thousand daily, it's been double that !

Not on google yet, that'll take a few weeks and it needs more links. I've advertised the site on several forums, I don't think everyone's put it in there MTF/WTAworld sigs though

Thanks for putting it on yahoo Drew   I'll add it to msn, steveg links, the
smaller search engines and big directories like jmoz (sp) and splut.

I also thought it might be an idea to design a business card advertising the website, so that when some of us go to tournaments we can leave it at the tournament office / pin it up on the club noticeboard for players and fans to see. What do you think ?

That sounds good, I agree about an archiving system. How would we go about integrating a blog tool though and how exactly would that work ?

Yeah, I wasn't thinking, you can just download the files up on freewebs

I've redone the news page as a Blog:  Shedman, let me know what you think. Everyone else - ditto!

we have to add their 'meta tags' to the web site....emailed DavidC and RobC to see who / how we should do it. Once done the web site owner has to do it. Thats my take on it but could be wrong.
