Onto the quarters and Yasmin is the last remaining British representative.
Y Clarke [GB] v C Rodier [Fr][4]
Rodier is 15, ranked 246 in juniors and she's done well in G3s this year - making 1 final and 1 semi. She's unranked in the seniors. She's had all her best results on clay, I reckon Yasmin can beat her if she finds her best form.
Yasmin was leading 6-4, 3-0 when Rodier retired so she's into the semis
SF:
Y Clarke [GB] v G Paz-Franco [Ven][1]
Paz-Franco is 15 and ranked 88 in juniors. She lost in rd2 of the Orange Bowl to Cirstea and in rd1 of Eddie Herr. Her best results this year have been; 2 G1 quarters, a G2 quarters, 2 G4 finals and a G5 win. She took a set off Larcher De Brito this autumn. She played Yasmin earlier this year, Yasmin won 6-7[3], 6-4, 6-0 on clay in Florida.
Wow! That's an impressive win. Till now she was playing people inferior to her (don't forget that Yas is underranked due to lack of action).
Her rank will go up to around 340 now. And it will be around 315 if she beats Pantic in the finals.
Pantic will go in there as the favourite. Yas will have to be at her best to win. She played Pantic in the finals of a 10K in Texas earlier this year and lost that match in straights.
When I first started paying attention to juniors tennis I noticed Yasmin getting good results in the states. I was planning to keep an eye on her progress but she seemed to disappear of the scene for a bit. It's great to see her getting wins against superior opposition.
I think that the official site for the Prince Cup has to be the most hopeless tourney site in the world. The tournament will get over tomorrow, but they haven't posted the lists, haven't posted the draw, the History section reads "Coming soon"....
