RE: Prince Cup 2006

Jade must be in the States now.

She goes to Evert Tennis Academy as far as I know, which is also owned by IMG.

Casablanca is during the last week of December and is a GA.

Tara, Heather and Anna aren't on the lists.
But we have Stephanie Cornish! And also Broady, Yasmin Clarke, and a few other.

No idea about Danielle. I'll post it if I find it.

Laura Robson withdrew, so no British presence in the main draws of the 14&U edition - boys or girls.

That's sad because we have had so much success here in the recent past.

12&U begins on the 8th.

The British tennis invasion of Florida continues I've just found out that Danielle is going to be based in Tampa aswell this month, everyone's heading there !!!

She's heading there on 28th December and using Saddlebrooks as a training base for a series of tourneys in Florida at the start of 2007. She's planning to play three 25Ks and a 50K.

This is getting really funny now. We may as well as start a base in Florida, will make things really simple.

Yeah, that's what Mike Raphael said Everyone is heading out there: Boggo, Mackin, Kasiri, Cavaday, Brown, Curtis, Dyce, Baker, Lownsbrough; are all in Florida.

I think Bloomfield is heading to Saddlebrooks aswell this month

Isn't Jamie M going to the US as well to train with the Byran Bros. It's probably simpler (and shorter) just to list the people NOT going to the US!!

I remember seeing that all the girls won, but the site isn't working now.

No he didnt go the Bryans ended up in an exhibition event and would only have had 1 day with Jamie so he decided against it. He will go to the US though and meet up with his new doubles coach.

Where did you read that Drew ?

I was under the impression he was going to train with the Bryans. He's already been working with Cayer for 6 months now and 3 months on a full-time basis, maybe Cayer has a training base in the States and Jamie's heading out there ahead of the new season.

Results in full from rd1:

A Fitzpatrick [GB][9] bt M Fraser [q] 7-5, 6-7, 6-0

Y Clarke [GB] bt N Stanziola [Pan][10] 6-4 6-1

N Broady [GB] bt A Voicu [Can] 7-5 6-7 6-2

S Cornish [GB][6] bt S Takayama [Jap] 2-6 6-4 6-3

Great wins for all the girls, especially Yasmin, knocking out the 10th seed in such style

Rd2:

A Fitzpatrick [GB][9] v L McHale [USA][wc]

Y Clarke [GB] v J Sanford [USA]

N Broady [GB] v M Luschina [Rus][q]

S Cornish [GB][6] v A Yacaman [Col]

Anna's opponent is 16, ranked 806 in juniors and doesn't have a senior ranking. She beat a player ranked 690, 0 and 1 in rd1. In August, McHale beat Jade Curtis in 3 sets in rd1 of the US junior hard court championships [G3] on the way to making the quarters. She's also made a G4 quarters this autumn. Could be a tricky match, I predict a 3 set win for Anna.

Yasmin's in fine form at the moment and 14 year old wildcard Jordaan Sanford shouldn't pose too many problems. She's ranking 1409 and has only played 2 tournaments before this one. In rd1 she beat a Canadian opponent ranked 490 - 6-0, 7-5.

Naomi's opponent is a 14 year old Russian qualifier [ranked 1814 in juniors] who beat the 11th seed in 3 sets in rd1. Luschina has only played a handful of tournaments before this one, losing in rd2 of Eddie Herr qualies and rd1 of a couple of G5s in the summer.

Stephanie's opponent is 16 and ranked 455. Tara Moor beat her 6-1, 6-4 in Eddie Herr qualifying.

Shockers for Anna and Naomi. To be honest I don't know why Anna plays junior tournaments as she always seems to do a lot worse than in senior events which is slightly bizarre After the first set, it looks as though Naomi got a bit of a hammering from a 14 year old qualifier

Superb win for Yasmin though

Rd3:

Y Clarke [GB] bt A Konjuh [Cro] 3-6, 6-4, 6-3

N Pantic [Cro] bt S Cornish [GB] 6-1, 6-0

Yasmin's opponent was 14 and ranked outside the top 1000 juniors but she'd beaten two players ranked in the 500s in the first couple of rounds after going through qualifying.

What happened to Stephanie ! Her opponent is 17 and ranked in the 500s in juniors but is in good form at the moment, she qualified for the Orange Bowl and Eddie Herr. At Eddie Herr she beat the world no 65 in juniors in rd1. Pantic is also ranked 556 in seniors and after a successful spell in 10ks in May, she's been playing 25ks for the last 5 months which may explain why Stephanie was a little outclassed in this one.
